Title: Best mid range cricket balls
Post by: KPittman on June 12, 2018, 01:21:52 PM
Hello CBF

I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations on what red balls to buy for my Sunday team to use? I'm pretty sick of our chairman buying us Readers county balls off Amazon so need something that's around the £11-13 per ball price range. We ideally need a dozen so if there are companies that make good quality balls and do discount on bulk, then even better.

I'm considering AJ Sports Super Cavalier, the new IJC ball or maybe a cheaper Dukes ball.

All suggestions welcome!

I don’t think many retailers will class a dozen as bulk.

As always I’ll recommend tiflex, if you spend a bit more than your budget per ball you’ll get an exceptional ball, but the more than good enough tiflex manga is in your price range

Our League uses Dukes, so i have got Dukes in for our team to use, and they have held up really well, being used indoors, and outdoors,  good seam , good shine and plenty of swing

Tiflex.

The cheaper Dukes balls are horrible. Our second team use the 'special match' and its not good. scuffs up badly, horrible bright red colour, tend to go egg shaped.

The Dukes county is good but they're about £25 a go.

Special Match will be a league ball, hence why they are probably sh!te, similar to the hunts county league balls that are dreadful

Dukes to retail are:
Crown Prince
Prince
Select
Club Match
Velocity

hampton, bucks or windsor?
I got a couple of Blenheims for nets at the start of the winter and they've been excellent, both still in good shape and still swinging - hour and a half of bowling per week since January. They're not normally available but apparently are between the Hampton and bucks in quality so imagine either of those would be decent. Windsors are great but significantly more expensive I think, also used Magnas before but didn't think much of them.

How about these? Alum tanned leather is a good sign.

The white balls are on offer via ebay.

Sorry to bring up an old post

After some info on the Dukes balls, most notably  the Royal County A ball.

Any experience using these? Club has used Readers in the past, but new move to a new league we are able to change and Dukes is an option.  Found these at a decent price so was just wondering
