I noticed this in my Facebook feed earlier today from GN Aus/NZ:
https://m.facebook.com/GrayNicolls.AUSNZ/photos/a.502787096403861.86631428.424274204255151/2470575566291661/?type=3&source=48
Any ideas of who?
I see Joe Burns is in court at the moment as Spartan hasn’t paid up on his contract, so that was my first thought.
But I wouldn’t call that a huge signing.
A comment suggested Smith, but GN have removed Warner from everything so I can’t see the signing Smith and hugely marketing it...
Anyone know of any Aussies or Kiwis coming off contract?
-
Puma done in Australia. Probably Sos’s young brother.
-
Mitchell marsh?
-
Mitchell marsh?
probably.
-
I reckon marsh might be a pretty good guess for one of the signings.
-
Mitch was with Gray Nic before stupidly going to Puma.
Would they make a big deal about him going back?
Are we sure it’s a male cricketer?
Ellyse Perry?
Currently sitting number 1 in ODI batting and all rounder ratings.
Double ton in last years Women’s Ashes...

Have to be an Aussie, they have Williamson for NZ market.
-
Has to be an Aussie they’ve lost David Warner for a while so need someone
-
Tim Paine maybe as Aussie skipper GN have always liked have captains using there kit

Paine was about to take up a job with Kookaburra before being called back in to the Oz side. Doubt he would now go with the competition.

After his returns in the recent ODI tour I doubt the competition would take him... ;)

to be honest i was thinking that but i think hes been with Kookaburra for years, but then again Root left GM for NB

I thought this one too. Tim Paine started his career with GN I believe (can’t find the photo I’ve seen previously).
Seems unlikely though, considering TP’s comments recently about courage, honesty, values, respect etc. Moving from the sponsor, who was about to give you a good job after cricket isn’t in line with these values so would look hypocritical.
I’m not sure if GN booted him, but Warner is using Spartan gear at the Canadian T20:

ive followed Tim Paine for quite sometime...being that i live in hobart and also played AFL against him in the early days prior to him taking up cricket fulltime...i cant ever recall him having anything other than kookaburra personally...id find it highly unlikely that he'd move to GN...

De Villiers has moved from kooka after having been associated with it all his life as well as breaking the fastest records while using their gear.. and AB is one of the nicest/honest blokes around.. So anything can happen in world of sponsorships..

Perhaps he'll be a better signing than he was for Surrey!

I think he had already moved to kookaburra by the time he was first choice keeper for tasmania. But he was was using a GN Fusion at the start of his domestic career as a batsman.

Tim with his new sticks :)

Why does he need new ones? The ones he bought over to England are still virtually unused...
-
Doesn’t stop the rest of us and we have to pay for them!!
-
i don't like his trousers, they look silly.

Yeah, see loads of blokes where I work wearing ill-fitting trousers like that. You would think buying trousers that actually fit you would be an elementary thing, but the number of people that seem to get it wrong is incredible.

He must be cold because they are dead set long johns !
-
Those bats look nice and chunky with thick handles, unlike the Kahunas we get in store.
-
I've just seen on Gray Nics Instagram that Joe Burns has also Joined Gray Nics, David Warner must be taking up all of the Spartan money that nobody ever seems to get paid.
-
Apparently Jonny B is yet to see a penny and could be changing brands again in the near future...
-
Spartan......what a joke.

it looks like they have a variance in handle thickness. i know that depth perception can play a part but it looks like he has put an extra grip on at least one of them
-
Even shoulders look thicker on the one which has thicker handle. The other 2 look different...
-
im pretty sure thats actually a technique bat.. no side stickers and looks a lot skinnier
-
surprisingly i noted the the kookabatcave instagram account was recently asked who used the heaviest pro bat they had made...the reply was Tim Paine @ 2lb12oz along with Glenn Maxwell
-
Looks similar to a Trott profile. Wouldn't be surprised if he borrowed/got one while in England and had it stickered up.
