Over the years there have been a number of iconic bats shapes for example
Kook Bubble and the ridge back
Ss jumbo
Any number of GN bats
Possible the Tendulkar shape.
But when will we see the next really iconic shape?
Am I being unfair on the Kohli duck bill? Or the Trott GM?
Or do batmakers and players prefer the more homogenous bat shapes?
-
The Root Profile seems to be a popular one.....

what about the Millichamp & hall distinction- what a bat that was

It's quite possible that the next big trend will not be driven by people scoring big double and triple hundreds in Test cricket, but by the bashing exploits of a T20 specialist. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. To me the Bubble and the Gold Crown and possibly the Powerspot are the quintessential cricket bats that all others are measured against, to see them so majestically waved over a number of hours by great players undoubtedly makes an impression.

Or the Amplus - made me wish I had the game to use one.
-
With the new regulations it will be something with:
40mm edges
A 65mm Spine
Convex profile
7mm of camber on the face
Basically something that's as big as possible without being "illegal"

the later Distinctions werent as good, higher middle
-
old v new distinction here in my old photos
EPIC BAT 8/9 grains and immense performance. NO bat has ever come close to it. The new Distinction had 12/13 grains, higher middle, not as good

The omexa xrd shape from GN had me very excited. Beautiful bat

This i think is the biggest consideration....... it surely gives less flexibility and options to batmakers to create a truely distinctive and therefore iconic shape?

I was a massive fan of the Aus Gray Nics F18, unfortunately I must have been the only one because they went out quicker than David Warner in a Canadian T20 match.
-
Can we add the classic Slazenger V12 shape?
I'd love to see Gray Nics bring back the 2010 Powerbow shape. Also rather liked the xiphos...
Guy at our club has an M&H distinction. Stunning.

Is the original Gunn & Moore Purist seen as an iconic shape, or does it just have a cult following on here?
Or the Icon for that matter... Was the Icon an icon?

The Powerbow (2018) I have from @Six Sixes Cricket is an unbelievable shape. It's one of the special editions Rob got and I can't rate it highly enough. It's a grade 3 but is just superb! It's so good my grade 1 Salix doesn't get a look in and I'm considering selling to buy a higher grade Powerbow.

Edit - @alexhilly1492 has told me not to sell the Salix as it is also a gun...!! lol

Is that standard powerbow 6 shape mate?
-
Hi All,
I guess with all the new restrictions on the bat dimensions and most pro players looking for full profile bats.
Its really hard to see if bat makers can experiment too much going forward.
There will be minor tweaks here and there but I donot see major changes coming in. With big hitting being the need of the hour and players donot want to lose much wood in the hitting zone I assume the shapes already
in the market are here to stay long unless any big player like kolhi, Smith, Root, Kane starts using a funky style bats.
As per me most of the bats profile became Iconic because they were being used by Icons of the game.

Slazenger v100.
Gm maestro.
Symonds tusker.
Next iconic bat will be every bat , as the icon of the age will be the mcc bat size restrictions. :(
-

Possibly, I've not seen a standard one to compare mate. This one is just so perfect tho. The spine is almost rounded as there is zero concaving!!

Like the standard baseball bat. Sad. :(

I'd say the SS Ton shape with the duckbill is quite iconic

What made the Aus version special?

What made the Aus version special?
Just thought I'd specify, as there are often differences in the same bat made for a different market, the F18 I had was convex, mid to high middle, 39 mm edges and came in at a whopping 2.6. it was just so different to everything else being released and I absolutely loved the shape.

XP80!

Screaming Cat series 1 shape, or is that more of a cult classic rather than iconic?

Anything used by me! The sheep will always follow the shepherd.

I waffled when I had the opportunity. No more Screaming Cat today. :(

This.
I think the screaming cat shape is iconic amongst those in the know. Although other shapes as those mentioned in this thread, are more well known out side forum users.
Don't M&H still have a classic bat based on Millichamps early bats as a classic bat?

Is he selling it?

Are we saying what will become the next iconic shape?
Clearly some shapes we lust for don’t fit the Gauge anymore. Xp80, 50plus, Kaboom. Current shapes once revised do not hold not hold a wow factor. Some shapes when max spec’d are becoming same same.
The duckbill is iconic.
I don’t think the new scoop is though.
I like the BAS Dolphin. I’ll say that one.
