Hi guys
I'm looking for a newbery bat, but I don't know wich.
Im thinking of any SPS models or maybe a custom made, but is it worth paying ekstra for a custom if I can find one of the SPS suiting my style?
I have looked at somthing like the Thruxton , GT335 og Bomber
Cheers Jakob

There should be a model shape to suit you as they have a wide range and you can get a cracker in SPS grade, I usually only see a custom needed if you need a different shape.
Quite a difference between the B52 Bomber (a big bat with a low middle similar to Sachin's preferred shape), Thruxton (a big edge and low profile) and the GT335 (a higher middle with a great all round shape used by Murray Goodwin and a lot of the sponsored players).

Therubin,
If your after a Newbery then Mr Talsiman is your man....explain to him your style of play and your requirements willow wise.....grains...weight etc and i'm certain he can pick you out a beauty as he has dealings with Newbery direct. He picked me out a stunner!
Mike if your happy to post up the pics of my bat [I haven't quite worked out how to do it meself!] it might give Therubin a clue as to what i'm on about.

You'll have to email them to me, I didn't have any.
-
Just sent them to your email.

If he is up to it, then it sounds good.
Another question, I was just looking on owzat home page, and found Newbery UZI C6+ Full Blade.
I know the Uzi has a shorted blade, but is this a normal size bat, with the C6+ handle, that allows you to put more wood in the bat, without weighting more then a normal bat?
-
I don't think you can buy C6+ any more. I am not sure the cut off date for retailers not to sell C6+. Does any one know.
Also I found with C6+, when u hit the ball it produced horrible sound, completely different to Normal cane handle bat.
By the way Harry all the retailers also deal with Newbery direct.
I am going there this week to hand pick my bats.

Do you offer as good a deal as Talisman though Aqureshi?
-
The C6+ is no longer available, I made sure of that by buying the last few a month ago, got them here and will send pic's across to TheRubin.
Also I found that the handle was the same in feel and sound as a cane, maybe you are thinking of the GN Plastic handle Asad?
-
No it was definitely C6+, few of our 1st team players used it and didn't like it.

Can you post them up Mike here mike as I'm not sure how I go about it?

Yes

Ive used a C6+ mjolnir and the sound and feel was just the same as a cane handle and played extremely well.
And ive tried a GN with that horrible "carbon" handle they used. Sounded horrible and the balance of the bat did not feel right at all...
Dan has a C6 mjolnir for sale on here i think?

This is the Thruxton as sold to Harry Kovert.

Thanks Mike....to say I'm happy with the purchase would be an understatement and a half.
-
You've done well as this was bought last year and they have scaled back the profile since then as with the Krakatoa since it is too hard to make in most clefts at a light weight.
-
That looks like whatever it hits stays hit. Quality stick you've bought there Harry!
-
Tumo.....in the process of knocking it in and early impressions are that it's an absolute rocket....even the edges seem to have an amazing ping.
-
That would be invaluable information for me, I can't seem to hit anywhere else on the bat!

He did but it has since been sold :)
-
ive got one if youve got your debit card and overdraft facility ready to go.
-
harry hope you dont mind me asking but how much did you pay for that thruxton ?that is an absolout beaut !!!
-
didnt realise they had stopped making the c6 handle glad i got hold of one now to see what they are like....will find out on weds
-
They are more than decent Tom but not to everyone's liking, but I've found them to be very good indeed.
-
Will be interested how you get on with it Tom as like others have said I have heard conflicting reports about them. What is the profile like for the weight or compared to your other Newbery's?
-
Will take a few pics later on as got my kit in the boot but the C6 is back at the flat at the moment!
Thought it would be an intersting comparism to make as they are both mjolnirs and apparently both use the best possible willow to make the bats in the case of the C6 and the SPS model with the cane handle.
Got nets on wednesday at the county ground so will see how they go and reveiw from there. Sound with the mallet is def different with the carbon handle though but would expect that due to the material and the fact it's hollow. Was interested as we obviously work with carbon fibre/kevlar with the helmets so the combination of traditional wood and modern carbon is something that brings a few ideas to mind in terms of innovation...but would need to brush up on my MCC laws etc I guess to see whats legally allowed within the laws.
PS sorry for taking this off topic :(

Mr Duck...I paid a very reasonable price for it...Much less that the rrp....Speak with Talisman if your after one.
