Bloody hell
how much does one of those set us back mate?

£495

Doesn't look too dissimilar to the shapes our own @Northern monkey has been making
-
Is the handle really thick as last year? I don't really like the handle on the Vince, it's an usual shape. I was told all the player editions this year have the same handle. Is that true?
-
It’s an absolute beauty that hopefully will be getting one soon

I didn’t measure this handle, it felt like a normal thick gm handle. And as far as I am aware, the handles should be the same as the player requests. The Ben Stokes player Edition was smaller, I measured that one
-
@Six Sixes Cricket does this years fit through the gauge?
Yes, it will fit through, they all do this year. Stokes is probably the nearest to the limits
-
Lovely looking bat
-
What is the handle on the Vince like? I find the QDK nice with a GM grip which is thicker at the bottom but a bit weird with a normal grip (top hand too chunky, bottom hand a bit thin)
Its a thin, almost round handle. Slightly 'wider' at the bottom hand, but not a conventional semi-oval. Sorry I think I am unable to explain properly.
-
That makes sense @Ajdal . Bit strange though as I've only ever since Vince's bats with a pretty large oval bottom hand like this: https://goo.gl/images/F5cZEe
Pictures can be deceiving, the handle on the vince bat i recently got doesn't have the usual GM handle. To be honest can't even call it a semi-oval
-
That’s not the handle on our player edition Vince bats, nonetheless I think it feels great
-
That shape is bat perfection, lovely spine from handle to toe, thick handle..just wow...wonder why they don't make such shapes in lower grades for the normal beings..
-
Cleft density and size??
I am sure low density/big size clefts would be found with irregular grains/stains too...maybe GM could use those to make a special grade available at lower cost?
-
Also have to mention, awesome photography..
-
Gm make all bat shapes to 2-10 finished weight. Density then plays it part in the finished weight. The Ben Stokes bat I had in weighed 2-8 1/2 and was rediculous size for the weight.
GM have made the haze max to get bigger bats for a lower weight. Some won’t go thru the ‘guage’ And have been 2-12

If you get a haze max under the 2.11 mark let me know

So, they will make oversized bats for clubbie customers?
-
Well sort of, they are no where near as big as the select extremes but are big for GM

What are "select extremes"?
-
What are "select extremes"?
Same as the one for sale in the for sale section
-
Didn't find anything...not sure what you are talking about. Never mind.

He means the sale section of this site, not his own:

^ Thanks!

What are "select extremes"?
Referring to Gray Nicolls Select Extreme bat

Not to be overly critical but this looks too concaved for a 2-10 bat for my liking. Its rare to see pros use such concaved shapes usually their bats are quite full almost dome shaped. Makes me question whether it really is the exact profile and weight QDK uses. Grains look lovely though and im sure it pings like a cannon
-
^ I have concaved bats and have unreal ping! I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the concaving does not go below the edge level, there is no degradation of performance per James Laver.
The man whose bats I want to steal uses concaved bats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_g3w9q4Cj8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_g3w9q4Cj8)

i'm pretty sure Joe Root's bat is concaved as well

What is the reasoning behind performance being effected as soon as the concaving sips below the edge?

I think when concaving dips below edge level, you are basically putting more wood at edge than between edge and middle (where it dipped below edge level), which doesn't make any sense as you either hit the ball off the middle or between edge and middle i.e. off centre. As long as concaving is above edge level, compared to convex shape with small edge (comparing at same weight/volume of wood available to work with), you are basically spreading out wood all along the way towards the edge resulting in a wider sweet spot compared to no concaving/convex back but with small edges.
From personal experience, i did find slightly concaved bats/modern bat shapes had wider middles compared to convex bats with small edges/old bat shapes. Not to mention, pickup is almost always better with concaving, maybe something to do with aerodynamics. Pickup difference can be clearly felt when trying horz bat shots.
