Hey Guys for those that have TK s including those that are phantoms
Blank bats Uzi s etc
How long before you saw the bat fully open up after knocking in
When you thought there's a real difference and it's reached peak
I know it will vary but guestimates ??

I am currently using a TK made bat as my match bat. I put that bat thru a lot of preparatory steps (unlike any other bat I own) before I felt it was pinging phenomenally. The thing that makes it difficult to judge "readiness" is how TKs sound - they have a more bass-ey/deeper sound compared to my CA for instance. Until one of team mates commented in the nets (this season) that the ball was rebounding really hard, I didn't think the bat was ready.
This is the only bat that went thru a bat knocking machine. I then used it in a lot of net sessions followed by a couple of games (last season) where I knew I was going to dab the ball around for 1s and 2s. I hardly ever used a mallet on this bat. IF I did, it was very lightly. Most of the knocking and prep was done either with old balls or in gentler match conditions without big hitting. A year had gone by with very light use before one day in nets (beginning of current season) I felt this bat was pinging beautifully. I haven't looked back since. It sounds beautifully and a clean hit results in long sixes. It is Blitz shaped and has the longest sweet spot I have on a bat.
So, in a nutshell, it went thru a long prep period. I don't know if it was ready sooner than I realized it was ready. :D But...it was worth the wait. ;)

You make some really interesting points
I am thinking of putting them through a machine in the off season ready for next season
Still am very conscious of the crappy Duke balls used in the league
It's more the sound I hear off batsman when they hit it
The clicking sound . May continue to use my GM and butterfly until I feel it's worth using them
I think it will take a lot of netting with a good quality ball to get them to peak

We use decent cheap balls in our league and they feel very hard against the bat. That is our reality. I don't mind. I use top level Kranzbuhlers, CAs, and Lavers against the same balls.
My new philosophy is to prepare the next match bat while I am loving my current match bat. :D This gives you plenty of time to do the prep correctly.

Rounded the edges, tapped the toe for 15 mins and chucked a scuff sheet on it then took my B1 straight out to the middle with me.
40* from the final 5 overs, 25 from 12 balls, 79 from 40 odd balls with around 12 sixes spread across the innings.
If they open up more than that then I cannot wait!! Just use the thing!

Mine (which has had minimal preparation) goes like a rocket when you get hold of it. Unfortunately, the knob at the end of the handle seems to prevent that happening too often!
