Sort of bit the cricket bug again after watching the Eng v India test the other day and fancy a few net sessions with mates, nothing serious just a bit of fun.
However I've realised I don't own a bat anymore (pretty unheard of on this forum i assume!)
Always used light bats so I'm looking for a 2.6/2.7 with great pickup and i don't fancy spending anymore than £100 as i'm only going to be in the nets, so i came across the lower end CA models.
I've always liked the look of CA and heard they make some really good bats in light weights with amazing ping, but are there a lot of fakes about?
I stumbled across this on ebay which looks like it would be ideal but £40 seems ridiculously cheap for any bat!

Can you really pick up genuine bats for that sort of money? Or will you essentially be buying a plank that will snap in half after a throw down haha?

would suggest contacting some of the companies on here see if they can sort you out. But that one ebay is a fake mate

It looks legit. Somo is the absolute entry level english willow bat by Ca that retails at about 3000 rupees in pakistan. Expect it to be pressed into the oblivion and weighing atleast 2.12
A decent budget bat if i may suggest would be the Ca plus 3000 or 5000. They retail in Pakistan at 6000pkr and 8000pkr respectively so shouldnt cost too much. U can check with uzi sports on the forum or hanif from eclipse allsport. They might be able to hook u up. Alternatively u can look for any GM 404 or 606 models which should cost you about 100 quid and some change.

by the looks of the bat he sells, he just stickers up cheap bats. Also GM signature around 100 pound and its grade 2 and a great bat

I contacted him about the weight of a 2lb 6 sumo he was selling he emailed to say 2lb 6 is actually 2lb 9 ounce

So 2.6lbs, rather than 2lb 6oz. Love the ambiguity of the imperial to metric conversions, always worth checking that out.
The GM 606 and 404 bats are great value, Signature likewise is fantastic and you can get them for about £100, £80 and £125 respectively.
If you hang on for a few weeks you may find some great end-of-season bargains to be had.
Alternatively if you're just getting back into it, you could do what I did and get a second hand one from people on here or eBay etc. You'll then not have the pain of knocking the bat in, and will find your money goes farther. You'd be surprised (maybe?) how many great bats are just sitting around in people's houses having been bought on a whim as backups.

Never ever trust the stickered weight of pakistani bats. They simply dont understand how imperial units work. Always ask the weight in grams

Mate Ca Somo IS a cheap bat. It would be pointless to sticker up a cheap bat into Ca Somo out of everything else

Dear OP, 100 quid is a lot of money in terms of pakistani bats. If u can find someone travelling to your town from pakistan you could probably even get a Ca plus 10000 for under 100 quid. Thank the exchange rates

Would happily buy second hand to be honest but I’ve scoured eBay and cant find anything that takes my fancy in a light weight.
My last bat was a beautiful Aldred but was 2lb 9oz. I tried to convince myself I could use the heavier weight but just couldn’t get on with it in the end and moved it on. Need to make sure I don’t get something too heavy for myself to use this time.
