Title: Adidas XT bats
Post by: SOULMAN1012 on September 06, 2018, 04:59:10 PM
Hi all, just looking at weather to stick with my current 2018 season kit which has been GM and Iv used this for the past 2 seasons ( same pads multiple gloves and same 3 bats). Pads are now split so need changing anyway

However I may fancy a change and have liked the look of the Adidas bats and softs although I have only seen one player actually use one it went very well. Looking for thoughts on anyone that has used specifically the XT black and ideally 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0 as now I’m not really bothered about looks more performance. Also anyone know who actually makes the Adidas bats??

SS make the bats and softs

Cheers Jake, did you ever stock these when running Vitas?? Interested in your thoughts on the quality of the softs and bats. Softs I would b looking top end compared to mid/top end GM due to price

It was SG until 2 years ago. The softs are so obviously SS just from a brief inspection.
SS and Sondhi softs are extremely distinctive.

Softs are good, as you would expect from SS, good value but at the very top end possibly let down on materials used compared to other brands (mesh instead of nicer/more comfortable materials)

Yes we did stock some Adidas towards the end, their move to SS was a factor in this decision as it did seem to help with value for money, making a brand not taken especially seriously previously by customers a bit more attractive

The bats and softs are all made by SS. Softs are all excellent and really comfortable. With regards to the bats, we only did the XT White this year in the 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 models. Not the prettiest looking, but they all came up nice and light on the scales.

Do SS make Millichamp and Hall softs?

I absolutely love my adidas softs.
Last year they moved to SS and they are super light. This years black XT elite gloves are probably the best gloves I have ever had.
I have a lower range bat and it is ok, got a hard spot but I use it as my net bat.

I have the XT 1.0 pads and I love them. Traditional looking, super light, great protection and don’t squeak. Well recommend 👍

#worstkeptsecretincricket x not worth getting in an argument with a self-important club cricketer about.

Actually, the person I argued with is a very good young player, possibly a future county cricketer. And humble, not self-important at all.

I have a 2.11 libro club bat from two or three seasons ago. I bought it on ebay, so I don't know if it is an import or one for uk consumption. I paid around £80 for it.

It is a decent shape, nice pick up but has  some graping which is very hard on the face. It is great for a net bat and bowling machine. It doesn't come close in performance to my BBs or my Keeley.
Could it open up more. Maybe, but I won't be holding my breath.
Is it a plank? No, it is ok but usually you get what you pay for.

I should add that I really like the bat (and the shape of the handle). I would guess it was made by sondhi or SG rather than SS though.
