Hello All, I was Lucky enough to have a chat with Alex Hales while he was practicing. Long story short he let me have a look at all his bats that he brought with him. Massive bats for the weight felt 2.8, nice thick toe, balance was unreal, obviously very impressive. My favorite one from the batch was the one with a pink grip. The other two bats had “Z” on the shoulders. Thought I would share it here. Enjoy

Pink one doesn't even look like a Gray-Nicolls, no edge stamping and the Stickers don't look like they've been applied properly
Also I like the fact one is labeled as a 400 haha
-
Barring the talent of a pro such as Hales these bats and ping you just can't buy at retail or I haven't seen any ....

400 labeled one is the pink grip bat, no shoulder stamping like the other two of his bats. But it was the best of the 3.
-
Interesting to see a bat labelled 400 when GN have a halestorm model dedicated to the man
-
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that it’s just a bat he has picked up and liked. Asked GN for the stickers and the 400s got sent out to him. Then if he sticks the on a plank it’s not a big deal.
-
‘Z’ is a batmakers stamp at Robertsbridge
-
Such talented bats in the kit bag of a talent-less git. :D
-
The pinko shape looks like Jason Roy's bat.

What I'd give to be as "talent-less" a batsman as Alex Hales...
How can a bat be talented anyway? I'm pretty sure they don't go out and score runs on their own, the bloke wielding it has to do most of the work!

Lovely bats
one thing i have seen in pro bats , the willow color is slight pale white
-
More importantly what where the cones for ? Them bats look more like railway sleepers
-
Well Two of them were made in GN factory as stated by their shoulder stamp

Any clues on the pink grip bat? Which one had the thickest toe? Pink grip?

Pink grip bat is probably Indian made. He was netting with the pink bat and later power hitting with the orignal GN bat.
-
shoulders are different also.

one thing i have seen in pro bats , the willow color is slight pale white
Thats cause pros dont like to oil their bats cause it adds weight over time
-
Aside from QDK who’s only specification of a bit of willow seems to be that it is sat in oil for a week most of them don’t oil their bats simply because they don’t need to
Also it’s pure rubbish that pros bats are paler than off the shelf ones they use the same selection of willow most of us choose from

Lovely looking bats. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the reason for pro bats being slightly paler white is because of moisture content, drier willow tends to be paler.

Seing the side stickers on the pink gripped bat on backwards has my OCD triggered
-
I don't think the whitish color is due to being dry/not oiled. New off the shelf bats don't look that white and they are not oiled. These look something different in color really and wonderful too :D .. Would be interesting to know how come pro bats are that white, surely someone must know here.

Same selection of willow most of us choose from rarely happens the best performing lightest clefts are pre selected for the pros.

Any 2-10/2-11 weights? SH bats with shorter blades?
Looks don't matter, I want trampolines.
