So i had family member who gifted me money for the bat, i did not need one. ( Ping video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvwoUZR4FNg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvwoUZR4FNg) )
After recommendation from a friend and a reference through him to someone close to MB malik guys, i contacted him and told him that i wanted a canon of a bat, dont care about looks.
Went through the cleft selection process on video call.
selected one which turned out to be their highest grade one (costs heaps less than other sub continent brands).
i wanted:
2lb 9 to 2lb 10 oz with light pickup and good balance.
fuller profile
9+ grains preferably straight through the toe and back.
thicker more rigid toe.
mid middle position.
40mm edges and 65mm spine.
Bat was prepared for me within a day under MB malik's owner's supervision.
I was given a ping test too once it was ready and in video it pings crazily.
Waiting for it to arrive to see how it goes.
I will let pictures speak for themselves.
as i was paying shipping so added one of their bubber sher bats too (again full profile with duckbillish toe ) costs less than a junior bat.
i will be removing edges stickers from mb malik, too loud.

Looks a huge bat for the weight, how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking

I got a very special price and the person who helped me get it (he does this part time) forbad me to disclose it as it could effect his business.
but what i would say is that way way less than what i would pay in Australia for similar or more inferior looking stick and that including the shipping, fumigation etc.
the bubber sher in the pic has 38mm edges and 65mm spine too.

The H Pro is in the 150-200 Pounds range, where as the bubber sher should be around the 70-80 pounds mark. Local prices here in Pakistan.
-
I actually paid the price for a plain bat and this cleft was from their gold platinum edition range.
At the end they decided they they can put some stickers on for some advertisement if you say so.
As i paid price for a plain bat they only added h pro stickers.
If you ask them for a plain bat without stickers, you will get lower price.

Good to see some recent activity on Pakistani bats, them bats look lovely.
As previously mentioned I'm pretty loyal to AM. I've been offered a bat that was destined for a pro (sorry no sharpies and not sure I am allowed to say who it was for lol) and hopefully should be on its way. They are not as big as the other brands and not as well known but I've always been a fan of their bats and a bit bias!
They have always been reasonable price wise with me but have to say the AS sports price on the other thread is amazing. If I didn't have bats I have, the AS option is one to jump out for anyone wanting to try a Pakistani bat from a reputable company.
CA have always stood out head and shoulders and been the biggest Pakistani brand.
Ihsan I feel have fizzled out in my opinion. Malik have really been making all the right noises lately and are active on social media, there's a recent video of Zulfikar Malik visiting Time Keeley. Oh and his son with a bat from Keeley... make of that what you want but they may take some pointers from TK in their new range.
Problem in Pakistan is there's lots of fakes and shoddy bats floating about... reputable companies: CA, MB Malik, AS, AM, HS, Ihsan - Maybe a few others but I'd stick with one of them 6.
CA and Malik must be the most faked bats, Also stay well away from the jokers Cricket Xperts!!!!
-
that prod edition looks mean ...i want one
-
The H pro bat looks so amazing. Where did you get it? Could you pass me their contact Information? I would love to have one of those for myself.
-
Both bats look great. Can you give us a range of how much you paid for them?
-
I love a Malik!!!!!!!!
70-80 quid for a Bubber?! Sign me up! I need a Pakistani chum!!!!
-
oh nice!
the h pro looks lovely. have you received the bats yet? would be great to hear:
1, feedback on performance
2, confirmation of actual finished weight

Ok so i took my time.
Had the bat knocked in by machine then played in a bit with soft bola balls.
And used it today in nets. Luckily it was slightly wet so most balls were pretty soft.
Final weight after 1 and a half grip and antiscuff sheet, edge tape, 3 light coats of oil and shoe goo, it turns out to be 2lb 11.7 oz
I requested 2lbs 10 oz but i was promised that to hit the specs i wanted, it might be slightly heavy in dead weight but would pick up 2lbs 10 oz.
They are spot on with the pick up, picks up beautifuly, well balnced and i had no trouble playing any shot.
My rs signature which is my current match bat and is around 2lbs 10 oz picks up wlightly heavier than mb but mainly because of its convex design ( both would he my match bats now ).
Very happy so far, pressing on h pro is on softer side but bubber sher is slightly harder pressed so would take tome to open up.
To be honest this mb h pro performs as good as my GN signature which retailed for over 800 dollars.

Like that pro shape a lot
-
very nice overall shape .lot of runs :)
The most pity thing is that there is almost zero R&D in all Pakistani cricket brands and total illiteracy in this field.
Majority of bats break from handle, shoulder or splice and They are still unaware why and none seems to bother as Pakistan itself is a huge market with zero customer care and after sales service. 1st MB broke from shoulder, 2nd CA 10000 best ever bat broke handle twice and last year got MB which is gun also broke from handle. i am sure most of these brand owners visit UK often to meet suppliers of willow, bat makers but i feel none of them will bring their bat maker to have polished some skills. its becoming a lost art brought by The English.
I am sure Mr Malik met Tim Keeley to order X amount of bats for their X sponsored players.

Very sad when a brand like mb Malik who clearly know how to make performing bats have an issues with handle longevity ...

I've had a few CAs and some AMs and I can hand on heart say I've never had handle problems...
Yes I have seen bats with filler etc... but I don't think that's an issue with genuine higher end bats from the main brands. Remember a lot of fakes about. Also not as wealthy bat makers try and make bats go a long way.
I've seen handle breaks on many western brands also... think it's not as clear cut and a lot of generalising going on.
Every AM bat I've bought I've more than likely been sent a pic of the bat before it was shaped up... and clearly no filler and handles looked fine... can only speak about companies I've dealt with... I did get burnt years ago on a couple of fake Maliks that a family member bought for me... firewood with bleaching crap willow... but can't blame MB for that as it clearly wasn't their bat.
The big brands have a long history, many with 50 years plus as bat makers. Think MIDs is one of the really old companies... so they do have know how... it's either they are taking shortcuts or struggling financially which is making them salvage what they can. The Indian bat makers have the bigger share of the outsourcing contracts.

Yes I agree with you. There are so many fakes out there that you barely see any actual bats. I still have my 7-8 year old plain bat that I bought from CA. It was at one point used as a team bat and nothing happened to it.

Let me know contact details if possible i will ask them to copy keeley bat in all aspects.
its been two months since i bought a bat lying to Mrs its a refurbished. :o
-
After seeing these pictures, I ordered one bat for myself and boy it became my undisputed match bat. It is 2.10 but picks up like 2.7-2.8 and ping is fantastic. I am about to order another one.
-
Used hpro 2.11lb, for the first time at indoor nets today, exceptional😀, it will be my match bat! 🙂
-
I personally feel MB Malik are hit and miss, but it really depends where you get it from. Some of them have really dodgy handles, but the one OP got seems like has the handle where inserts go all the way and is a good handle.
Their middles are perhaps the best I have ever seen.

To us, this Bat doesn’t exist. Until we see the pictures.

This one is just under 2.11lb, heels like this Bat has more meat in the middle while it picks up beautifully, around 40mm edges, has butterfly stain, feels very powerful, hoping to use it for the rest of indoor nets
-
For a top of the range bat it looks quite ugly. But if it performs well then i dont think the op will care too much. Good luck!
-
You think it's ugly? 🙂
Never seen a butterfly cricket bat? Bet you'll readily pay £300 if you get a chance to hold it, 🙂 it's that good a bat!

Iv seen plenty of butterfly cricket bats. Owned one too from SS and it was amazing and it cost only 50gbp. My point is... For a bat promoted as "top of the line grade 1+ willow" strange to find butterfly bats.
-

U would lose that bet ;)
-
There are different grades in butterfly as well and I've had many really pingers from grade 3, but this one is 7* and it plays like 7*, trust me, initially I was surprised as well but it's willow is really very soft and it took a lot more time to knock it in as I don't want any damage edges or toe, it's outer edge is hard as there is the stain, for the rest of the bat it is soft and has a bit of a tint of I may say so,
Other difference I found between other really good quality butterfly bats and this one is that it's a huge bat,
like this one and other hpro so much, sold as quickly as possible all other bats, they all look tiny

Rofl! What qualifies it as butterfly mate?
@AJ2014 nice bat! MB bats are amazing and they perform. Good luck with it.
-
Not saying its a bad bat. On the contrary if the op says its a tremendous bat it probably is. I just said that in "my opinion" it doesnt "look" as good as it should. And a butterfly bat "in my humble opinion" should not be priced this high.
As for my match bat, it is going to be the same BB B4 LE that has been my trusty partner since last april
-

Op said its butterfly not me. I cant see the butterfly from the pics
-
Thanks,
Could've bought gold platinum edition but that one had a mid low middle and at 2.11lb, it would've been impossible for me to even pickup that bat 🙂 while hpro are huge bats for their weights but have mid high middle, making them bats with dream pickups 🙂
-
That gray nicolls kronus light 700 was butterfly stained bat as well rrp £279, shows again that there's different grading in butterfly willow, and these hpro bats started with rrp £400, custom made
-
Doesn't look like a butterfly stain to me and I can steely say I wouldn't pay 300, no matter how it picked up :D But as long as you're happy withit thats the main thing. Hope it serves you well.
-
🙂Thanks
You can see stain on right handers outside edge and on the back
