Alright guys. My Aero p1 have died on me looking at getting a new thigh pad. Was looking a a Remfry but the shipping to the uk a bit to much . Anyone used stretton fox ? Or anyone got any other recommendations. Thanks
-
If you can wait until next year I believe that George from Stretton Fox is currently working on a new type of Stretton thigh pad that would be half the price of the current offering. He told me that they'd be coming to retail some time in 2019.
-
Supposedly new super thin off the shelf Stretton's coming next year, my Aeros have finally reached the point where washing no longer removes the smell so I'm tempted to wait for them... Though as ever with Stretton and new products, who knows if/when they'll materialise.
Edit, beaten to it ^
-
Yeah I believe the new Stretton's are currently taking over George's life as I've put in an order for a custom set and it's around a 6-7 week lead time atm, although I'm still in the template sizing process.
-
Yeah I did like my aero p1 they served me well. Them new stretton fox sound good is there any information on them yet or is it just rumours?

Thanks for that mate

His revolutionary leg pads (and gloves?) were supposed to hit the market sometime in the past (?) but never materialized.
His shoe-insert/toe-guard was supposed to make our lives better but the product never saw the light of day, I think. Any one using them?
Buy an off the shelf thigh guard and be done with it. Aeros are a great product and so under rated.

Try Moonwalkr

I think these are the business...

I have an Adidas one which was about £20. And I’ve used it once as I don’t wear a thigh pad. They all seem the same to me and I think they are much of a muchness just with different branding.
The Remfreys and Strettons are different, the others to my very uneducated mind appear all the same.
-
Would definitely look at the new Stretton Fox offering when available, looks interesting. I use the Aero P2 and it's more than up to the job.

Not a big fan of someone trying to bring new, innovative products to the game then? :)
-
^ I love new products when they actually make it to the market! This guy's products didn't show up and there was a ton of hoo-haa on CBF about the pads, gloves and shoe-insert/toe guard.

There are thousands of products which never make it into production, especially when these are 100% new products/materials. I think StrettonFox should be applauded for trying to innovate, rather than just label up the same old pads etc like everyone else.
-
These look decent off the peg options too. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183297220186 (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183297220186)

I have tried the shoe insert (prototype), needs work, he is working on changes to it, I had to cut some of it away to make it more comfortable but still needs some adjustments.

100% agree, but would also never advise anyone to wait for an innovative product - because as you say, it may never make production. The Adidas thigh pads didn't used to be too bad from memory.
-
I cashed out for a stretton fox a few months back...amazing thigh pad...definitely a preference to remfry which I also tried prior to buying
-
Robinsons thigh pads were all the rage some years back.
-
Personally I use an Adidas thigh guard and inner guard but as separates not in the form of the Aero design best fit for me and easily protect against 80mph also easy to keep clean
-
Thanks for all the feedback guys . Looks like I will be going for a new stretton fox how do go about ordering one ? Or is it worth to wait for the new one ?
-
I'm in a similar boat, I currently have the TON Classic Thigh Pad set but it doesn't offer much protection, especially as a few times last season I was opening against 80mph bowlers.
If the new Strettons are cheaper I will go with them otherwise I will get a set of the moonwalkrs.
-
I currently use a Kookaburra set. Theyre spot on to be fair.
Tried the Aero P1 & P2 hated them!!! Way too bulky and not comfy!
I have tried the strettons of a mates and loved them. However, very expensive. I would wait for the new cheaper strettons after christmas.
-
@excalibur - I use the aeros, and i like the idea and the set up, but I've always found them a bit bulky and restrictive.
Are you able to explain why the Kooks feel different?

I found the Moonwalkrs a bit bulky and went back to AERO P2s
-
A lad at our club has the Moonwalkers. You may as well strap a double mattress to your leg, massive!!!!

Slightly thinner and generally better fitting ergonomically wise
-
Used to have strippers P1 but now have P2 and am happy. Cant go back to normal thigh guards.
-
Think I'd have gone for the Strettons but want aware of them at the time, so got the P2s. Work ok for me and don't find them too bulky at all. That said, would certainly look at some which were a lot thinner.

Excalibur, which Kookaburra set do you have? It's the bulk that gets me, hard to find a set comfortable to run in.

Alright guys just an update I went for a Remfry in the end my mate from oz talked me into one. So I took he’s word. Keep you updated when it arrives
-
Keep you updated mate

I had been using aero p2.
But once i tried kookabura’s pro players le thigh pads, i sold my new apair of aeros to get them.
They offer too level protection and mould to your body.
They are not thick or bulky material but rather very thinner padding but protection is top nothch.
Expensive than awro p1.
Lightest pair of thigh pads i have ever tried and very very compfy, you barely notice them on.

I think yes. As i bought them in oz
-
I use Slazenger Xlite bought from sports direct 2 years ago for £20. Does its job very well and very very light. Haven't used anything else so cant compare to tell difference.
Got hit many times but pad did its job to protect. Still going strong for coming 3rd season. For cost of 20 cant ask for more. You can find them on ebay now as sports direct doesn't sell anymore.

Remember, if giving it a test make sure your friend or significant other is capable of hitting the pads first before they wildly start going at it :( :D
I think my missus would be capable, I'm just not sure what she would be aiming for...
