Hi there,
I was given a SM King of Kings recently. Slightly used but the previous owner didn't like it, weighs 2.14 so not for everyone I guess.
I was wondering if anyone has any reviews/feedback on this model and also SM as a brand. Really not that much info available other than company blurb. I know the bats are from India but can't find out who owns the brand and where they are shaped.
Also the standard price for this bat seems greatly inflated online?
Thank you.

Some pictures of the gifted bat would be nice Roger.

Oh yes, apologies. Thought it was just me who liked looking at pictures of pretty bats! :)
I'll post some this evening after work.

I played with one a few years ago - it was Pinto or something model.
Didn’t feel right to my personal liking but I guess some people do like them.
Bats are usually thick and heavy -

lol - just checked the price on SM King of kings - and some stores are selling it for around £500.00 - quite a price for an Indian bat IMO.
Looks like that’s a great gift u got there.

Pintu some were stamped with I think. Only handled one and it picked up a bit bottom heavy, which ain't my thing, but it was finished well and the owner was a big fan.

Yes..SM bats are usually known to be bottom heavy...they are usually a favorite of big hitters and they do go well. But definitely not for everyone.

Comparisons are against my match bat, a GM Neon which weighs 2.13. (did a self refurb hence stickers)
The SM picks up similar to the gm yet is much bigger.
It pings really well, had a net session today. Really chuffed being given this. Offered money but got turned down.

Only thing I don't like is the handle. Way too thin. Added a second grip.

41mm edges. 65ish mm spine. About 2mm concaving.

Looks tremendous. I never seemingly get that level of fortune. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Forum Sponsor Vitas Cricket has reviewed SM bats in the past.

Started the refurb today. Sanded it down, rounded the toe and did some minor repairs. Doesn't look to bad.
Discovered some burnt in branding on the side, which was under the stickers?

Looks better without the stickers
Always found SM stickers to take up too much space on the willow and a bit much
