Title: Scuff Sheet

I know this keeps getting asked so my turn now ...

So besides protecting the bat, scuff sheets keep moisture trapped in the bat?

- How often do you change your scuff sheet? Or is it case once its on, its on?
- Clear or fibre?
- Is the fibre lighter?

Don't need a 50m roll but anyone selling smaller amount?

I usually put on clear scuff but have a bat due, so that time again.

I’ve got plenty in stock of the clear that I can do by the metre for you.

I usually replace mine once a season unless for some reason it lifted or some damage had occurred that means removing it to do the repair.

I usually change my scuff once per season. I like to have my grains visible so I choose clear scuff. I buy individual ones, yes they are little expensive but I like to keep few in my spare bag.

I use Tom’s scuffs and they are great!!!

I'm not sure about a scuff trapping moisture in a bat. Surely if only the face is covered moisture can still escape from the back, shoulders and edges?

Always used clear ones myself, the performance scuffs from Bulldog were good a few years back. Not sure if there was any truth in it or whether it was a placebo but they did seem to make an almighty crack when you middled the ball

All advice I have seen is that a sheet should be changed at the end of every season although I must confess I have no idea why.

I believe the sheet does keep moisture in, but you still need to oil the exposed edges and back to to retain the moisture in the bat

How would it keep moisture in?  Wood is porous and a bat is a single piece of wood, moisture would just escape through uncovered areas.

I think it was implied it helps but obviously moisture could escape via the uncovered bits and a touch of oil every now and again is recommended  :)
