Title: NZ v Sri Lanka
Post by: LateBloomer on December 25, 2018, 10:48:12 PM
Watching the 2nd Test as part of my traditional boxing day cricket marathon. Enjoyed the first Test, some super cricket from both sides

Just had the greatest commentators curse I can remember - Mark Richardson suggested that Sri Lanka should change captain due to bowling too straight and having a leg gully. Very next ball is full and leg side and Raval gets a massive leading edge to mid off to walk back for 6. Magical

Williamson was actually playing quite well, late, soft hands etc until he followed a slightly wider one. Good toss to win

You'd look on paper at Lakmal's stats, 120 odd wickets at 40, and think he's an average bowler. But he's genuinely a very skilled bowler just hindered by playing at home on raging turners where he rarely gets to bowl.

Long spell first up aswell, good stamina levels.

Kumara was getting it down at high 140s first up but the seam was all over the place. Definitely some potential there if they get a decent bowling coach working with him

I remember southee’s Debut innings against England - he had talent with the bat. You could say he’s under achieved.

Love a nz green top that gets easier to bat on as the game goes on

Funny old game Test cricket, the Lankans looked set to get hammered again in the first Test. Mathews, Mendis and the rain saved them. Their belief suddenly amplified. New Zealand are similar to India, get Williamson(Kohli) you fancy your chances against the rest

5 wickets for boult. High class swing bowling.

Make that 6 wickets and SL skittled out for 104. Has to be one of the worse reviews that

Tom Latham has had a hell of a series. Third most balls ever faced in a two-Test series. NZ's Alastair Cook, I would say.
