Title: Bat identification
Post by: Kulli on December 27, 2018, 05:16:46 PM
Picked up two bats over the course of the off season, both supposedly made at the same place but look very different. Could be they were both made in the same place but wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

Bat 1
No idea what the handle stamp is.

Bat 2
Ignore the stickers, it was just repaired there.

I saw two of the exact same GN model at a shop recently. One was made in Australia and the other in India. Could be something like that maybe?

Shoulders look sorta similar, so perhaps they just used a handle with Rubber inserts on one and Cork inserts on the other?

Is there anything written on the binding?

I know u said ignore the stickers, but the rubber inserts on bat 2 look a lot like the ones on my 2 Aus GNs, my Pro Performance also had similar (not sure if that was UK or India), but my modern scoop has cork, but closer together than the cork one u have.

Have you looked at Chads thread on ‘traits of different bat makers’ for inspiration, it may help, although I have bats that conflict with his findings

Might just be the angle of the picture but the splice doesn't look centered in the wide grained one and the shoulders look shonky. I'd guess you've seen more Keeley's than most but the binding/ twine looks really low quality too.

I'm sure I've seen that qp on a Pakistan brand somewhere but I may be remembering that wrong!

I’m 99% sure the GN labelled on is Tk made, it’s the other i’m Suspicious of.

Could the stamp be read as "db", some sort of d-bats.....just a blind whack...
