Hi i have to do a school assessment in woodtech and i have to made something that is to do with sport and i was going to make a cricket and actually use it and so i was wondering where i could find a like unshaped cricket bat with the handle and binding on it so i can get a head start really, im looking for grade 2 or better.

Hi the part made would probably need finishing off and the binding element comes after this as the shoulder need shaping to finish them.
I’m sure if you look up part made bat in google you’ll see how they typically come.

As a DT teacher myself I would warn you that the lack of variety of skills needed to complete a part-made cricket bat will severely limit your overall grade.
However, I would buy the part made tylo suggested, or give John at red ink cricket a call.

If you want a good grade you could:
1. Make a laminate and attach the handle yourself,
2. make your own travisher (this would be a cracking project and involve metalwork as well),
3. design a jig for a router to shape the back like a GN scoop.
4. Make a padded bat box/fabric cover for the bat.

If you're in Australia, give Andrew O'Hoy at Lyrebird Cricket in Gippsland a call. Tell him Justin recommended him to you. He'll likely be happy to sell you a partmade bat. Good luck with your project.
