Hi
After many years of pinch hitting I think i want to go through some proper coaching and try and have a consistent season before i retire.
Tried contacting John Sadler coaching in Ossett but no reply. Also am aware of teh Asylum, and have contacted Yorkshire CC as they have coaching available.
Any other coaches in the West Yorkshire area? Really want to sort my batting out and learn (belatedly) to build an innings properly and get my batting polished off as reasonably as possible so late on.
#NeverTooLate (Well hope not) :D

I'd recommend the Cricket Asylum bud, and ask specifically for Scott. He's a very wise, knowledgeable coach and great bloke to work with
Call me biased cos i used to work there myself, but the use of pitch vision will be great for you too

Having had a load of coaching last winter, I can confirm it is 100% worth it and lots of fun!

If you want to be a 'proppa batta', look no further than @Simmy

How many sessions did you have? Did you feel it helped?
Got to be a better investment than a new bat is may take on it ... although in true CBF tradition I do have a new bat :D ... but keeping my trusty JEDI that in the end I couldn't bear to part with as my main bat.

There's David Wainwright who coaches at Headingley and at Stumps in Wakefield. Nice guy, played pro and knowledgeable too.

Hahaha you silly Billy. I could do with some coaching too tbh. There are a few people that coach at stumps. They most coach kids but I'm sure they would do adults too.
G&R Randhawa Cricket Coaching
As mentioned David Wainwright also

Thanks... Will give them a ring. Do the different coaches charge differently or same price?

Yep, nice guy. Played some minor counties as well recently I think?

Wainers - SLA and handy lower order bar is the fruit bat!
Sadler is coaching at Leicestershire.

Steve Lawrence at Lordswood in Tadcaster is a decent one and a nice guy. Has his own set up/nets/bowling machine. I know it's not West Yorkshire, but close enough.

PitchVision has good content but their customer service is bad. Also, PitchVision will remove (paid for) courses without any warning and not reimburse you.
They removed two courses which I paid for and never reimbursed me for them:
1. Graham Gooch batting course
2. Michael Bevan's course.
I sent many emails to Neil Fairbairn and David Hinchcliffe but no recourse.
I'd avoid purchasing any new content from PitchVision unless they provide anything resembling a customer service and not remove courses without warning their customers.
Horrible!

Cool story
The use of pitch vision there isnt affected by your problem so it's no issue

I've booked 5 sessions with G&R coaching. So I'll let you know is how it goes

I managed to get a session with John Sadler.
Was quite good. He opened my stance up and moved me back to middle. Found I don't really bend my front leg also the reason I rarely play shots on my leg side by being very side on and taking a middle and leg showing too much of my wicket.
Going to try and sort a block out with him.
He's set up on weekends about 7 miles away for me so is convenient.

Best bit was that it was a focused 1 hour. I've found general club nets a waste.. you get 10 mins with 5-6 bowlers.. all bowling random stuff as some don't usually bowl. The 1 hour I probably hit more purposeful shots than I did in the whole of indoor winter nets last season.

..is to at least have a game plan..
Basically this! I've never been coached, just from bits and bobs I have read and you tube videos. My batting has always been inconsistent and deteriorated to some extent in recent years.
I also hate bowling machines set at a decent pace as I cant pick the timing. I'm quite happy facing pace when there's a human running in. In fact medium pace on the off side is my favourite bowling. I hate spin and slow loopy s%^*e!
My main aim is build a solid base and technique, make my shots a bit more all-round than just drives and offside shots. Basically I want to go into every innings with a plan and see it through rather than winging it like I have.

Read @Buzz’s book

If the bowling at your club nets is a bit on the variable side then don't dispair completely, you can still improve your batting. Work on your process and concentration - how do you set up in your stance, where are you looking as the bowler's running in, what do you do to switch your concentration on each ball. Nets may be no good at times for honing your cover drive, but you can always be working on making good decisions. I get annoyed as much as anyone when I'm in the 'spin' net with a non-bowler lobbing down pies, you just have to remind yourself that it's practice at putting away the bad ball. Only difference being that you know it'll be a bad ball before he's let go of it!

Thanks @edge , good approach! I think having an open mind trying different ideas and seeing what works for you is key.
It was suggested (but upto me) to keep a little notebook and write things down, coaching session notes. I've just gotten a nice little A6 notebook with a little pen holder.
After having a think I have decided I am going to write my coaching and net session thoughts and tips down. Also for each innings before and after notes. What I thought i was going to do and what I did :D
Really want to think about what I am doing and analyse it. Normally routine - turn up have a swing - have a moan... repeat the following week! @Buzz looking forward to reading your e book also. Have downloaded it.
I used to know someone who would keep a log of all his scores in a spreadsheet ( he wasn't even that good but each to their own, I don't judge :) ), but nothing beyond that.
