Title: Crack Advice...
Post by: LukeFramBurton on February 06, 2019, 07:16:26 PM: I just got my bat out (for some kitchen practise) and spotted this crack on the back next to the handle.

I only bought the bat a couple of months ago (from eBay) and all seemed fine then. I applied the stickers myself and it appears to have damaged that too. It’s only been used for one net session, and I’m (No Swearing Please) so it wasn’t used particularly aggressively.

I’m currently wondering whether I should:
A) Leave it, it’s superficial and will probably be fine.
B) Apply some glue.
C) Be on the safe side and dowel it before it gets any worse.
D) Cry into my jock strap and mourn the untimely demise of my cricketing career.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Post by: Gurujames on February 06, 2019, 08:03:35 PM: Take that tape off of the bottom of the grip and see how far up the crack goes.
If you can’t get glue into the crack then it will be a waste of time.

I know - I saw the title and thought I would have the remove the topic pretty sharpish!!
It really could have been dodgy on two different subjects!!

Post by: potzy248 on February 06, 2019, 09:54:57 PM: Its hard to get glue into those fine cracks. Try and get it in a vice so you can twist it (carefully as not to make the crack worse) and put some glue (maybe even watered down so it goes into the crack) wrap tightly with tape. Once dried tape with fibre tape.

If it was anywhere else I would just drop some glue and sand it, but being so close to the handle worries me a bit. Lifting up the grip, it doesn’t seem as bad as I first thought, but will see what glue I can get in there and then clamp it up.
