Title: Sunridge/Surridge?
Post by: Psi on February 21, 2019, 11:47:39 AM
Can anyone explain how The Indian SS company started using the name Sunridge? Was it a complete coincidence, or were they trying to copy the old SS Surridge brand from the UK, or did they buy the rights from Surridge's at some stage? I noticed that Surridge's have been out of bay making for a while, but there are new bats on their website again...

Unless it's changed  hands Believe Surridge is owed  by  the SDL group They used to the brand distributors but brought the brand this enabled them to call the bats certain names used previously.
Pretty sure there is an article on here but can't find it.

2 different companies completely. Part of the season why Sunridges dont have the rights to sell any bats in the UK that says SS on them. They renamed it TON for the UK market

Thanks, had sort of worked that out, although didn't know the Ton bit, but I just wondered if Sareen had intentionally copied the SS logo and even added the almost identical name Sunridge, or whether it was an unhappy coincidence (actually worked out really well for Sareen Sports as they now have the great international reputation.)

Just checked the SS Surridge website.

At least their prices for G1+ bats look a bit more humane.

Are those all made in UK bats?

I started working for surridge as a sales rep on the 7th jan so I can clear this up no problem for you all

2 completely separate companies, to the point that we won a lawsuit against sareen sports for the use of the SS logo.

as far as equipment is concerned, I have just redesigned stickers, bats, pads, gloves and also bags.

they will be here in time for the season.

the bats that are on the website currently arent the 2019 range, if admin are alright with me sharing the new sticker designs with everyone then i will but have to be careful with sponsors rules etc. admin is it ok to post them?

Thanks
Dean

Grade 2 and 3 prices are even better. Bats shape and description look cool too.  And Kashmir Willow sounds almost free.

There is an old school sitting on Ebay Australia - I loved this one too.

I agree with you on this, they definitely have misused /misguided Sundridge SS,
Think Sundridge was then on decline when Sereen started, they took full advantage of using SS, including me most of the people thought that was Surridges SS,
think Graham Gooch was the last international to have used SS Surridges

Cheers @19reading87

The equipment is a very small proportion of the business. Teamwear is huge for us obviously, we also have sister businesses in all kinds of printing and embroidery aswell.

I love kit and always have, very picky about pads in general, our MD knows I’m abit of a badger and when I started just let me run with ideas on the equipment side.

I’ll post an image of the new stickers and if admin have any objections I’m sure they will remove

Off the top of my head, Chris Read used SS gear when he first played for England.

And more recently still, Danni Wyatt did before she moved to New Balance

Turbo 333!

Turbo 333!

Yes I think after his triple against India. If you were lucky enough to have that model bat, or an SS Jumbo...it's probably still going because they were indestructible.

I'm not going to say they dont  make em like they used to because they would be living in the past.

But they don't.

Turbo 333 and the jumbo are still going.

They will be continuing this year

Yes, Jumbo was all the rage when I was a junior. That's why I got confused after several decades away from cricket when I saw equipment with the SS Sunridge logo on it.

BTW when I last looked a few weeks ago on the Surridge's website they had amazing deals on training kits - I got several jackets, training trousers and training trousers all for under £5 each. They must be about to put out a new range...

New ranges are already out for 2019. The deals on the website are for obsolete/ discontinued stock
