Who makes Jos Butler’s bats? Lovely profile as always on his bats.
Seriously this has nothing to do with his 150 odd last night ;)
-
Not sure, but I have one of them in my bag if you want me to throw up some pics so that those with an eye for these things can tell you?

Yes please

Ok, I’m back in Oslo tonight @ me if I haven’t done it by tomorrow evening :)
-
Don't kookaburra insist on pros using their own bats?
By that I mean I'm aware that pros have bats made elsewhere, but I thought Kook were quite clear that they have their own guy(s) making their sponsored player bats?

That’s the public stance of most of the bog makers, however in reality...

Blessed are the bog makers.

I added the extra twine as I think it helps protect for shoulder splits. Other than that anyone recognise any traits?

@Kulli , how is the ping of this bat?
-
Won’t get too carried away but would say it’s above average.
It is huge for the weight.
-
I guess its also dependent on which the country the pro is playing in at the time...

Here’s the shape for the 1-2 that asked, weight of this one is a shade over 2’7 with stickers and a regular grip.
-
that is a cracker for 2lb 7oz!!!
-
That is a kook made bat, have a blaze pro in the shop with exactly the same shoulders and handle
-
Yeah from looking at photos it does seems he uses Kook made bats. They look a bit more of a fuller shape than the off-the-shelf Kahuna though.

Looks like a shorter blade to me

This one is a pretty ‘standard’ SH length blade.
-
Does the spine run into the toe? It does on the std Kahuna doesn't it? Nice looking bat regardless.

This is huge for 2-7!
How did you get this?

No, Jos' bats seem to have more of a duckbill shape
-
Had a damaged toe, presumably why Jos Gave it away. Someone who bought it at a charity auction was flogging it on. Figured it was repairable so got Tom Line to graft a corner on it and refurbed it.

Very surprising as I've always thought his bats must be exceptional given the distance of some of his hits (even when slightly mistimed but obviously taking no credit away from his batting talent).

I'd wager you could give him 'rubbish' bats that score no runs in the hands of most forum members and he'd find a way to hit massive sixes

Oh I have no doubts about this! But I always imagined him to have some cracking bits of willow.
-
Aside from having more hand eye coordination in his little finger than we have as a forum combined, I imagine years of training, specialised fitness work and having access to some of the best coaches in the world also help.
:D

Their fitness level, timing, and hand eye coordination is just at another planet.

Anyone has any intel on the specialized fitness work Roy and Buttler do?

I remember something in the Telegraph (I think) about Buttler's training, it seemed more focused on his wicket keeping from what I recall. No doubt it is behind a paywall on their website somewhere.
I'd be pretty surprised to be honest if it was particularly batting specialised. Strength wise probably something built around variations of bench/squat/deadlift with some dynamic and power movements. Most likely in the gym about 3 days a week, lots of exercises like medicine ball throws and things with resistance bands, not training particularly heavy and lots of rehab on any niggling injuries.
-
That's a cracking piece of willow to finish up at 2'7!!
-
Butler apparently doesn't do any gym work. Cricket-specific training I understand

So he practices standing around for hours and queuing for tea? :D
