So I know the forum is full of bat geeks and we buy and change our minds on bats on an almost weekly basis as a group but what’s the piece or pieces of kit that are never changed?
For me a have 2. My box was borrows from a school kit bag when I was 13/14 and is still my 1st choice piece of kit as hard and sturdy as the day it was made and it’s taken a few serious blows.
Second for me is pads, my current GM & GN kit both have pads that are over 3 seasons old and pads are a piece of kit i hate changing can’t stand wearing a new pair in.
-
My pads, I haven't changed them (knock on wood) for last 8 years. I use Aero P1 leg guards.
-
Same as you on the box front, had the same one since i first started playing around 12. I bought mine though, the thought of a borrowed box from the kit bag is not a nice thought!
i've also got some sweat bands that i wear when batting that i've had since i was about 18, to be honest i don't bat for long enough to get that sweaty :(
-
Box and thigh pad currently. Although i have used the same bat for 5 summers (which is unheard of in my world!)
-
Pads, kept the same H4L ones for nearly 5 years now
-
I'm still wearing Youths Aero P2s from when I was playing under 17s I think! So at least 6 years old.
-
Think I've changed every other piece of kit at least twice since I bought my Aeros, they're tatty but still just about clinging on.
-
Box and p2s.
I've actually kept my batting pads for 3 seasons.. although I had a typical CBF crisis earlier this year I've kept my BAS players for now.. Hoping to visit Pakistan next year so may well get some new kit cos it's just too good an opp price wise to not to..
-
Bats, B3 I've had for five years, Kook Kahuna for four,
Box
Thigh pad
Pads and gloves i chanhe annually, sometimes more often
-
Pads 9years old because they are very light GN Powerbow also have a 9 year old match bat.
-
box, thigh pad and helmet.
only got new thigh pad set as i lost my original set.
box ive had forever
helmet had for 3 seasons, upgraded from old masuri to new and changed color to match lid, if i hadnt moved clubs that would have changed
i have a feeling this current set of softs will last a while and the bats i doubt will change any time soon
-
It will now be my thigh pad as i am very happy with my Stretton Fox's also my Aero Box
Everything else is up for change as i am getting older and wish to try try try! (to the detriment of consistency in my own game im sure)
-
Still got my box that I got over 20 years ago! Not sure how hygienic that is to be honest!!
Also still use my 1st set of P2 strippers which are about 8/9 years old.
Plus my spiked trainers are getting on a bit now.
This thread is dangerous because it makes you realise how old some of your kit is! 😂
-
Thigh guards because if they fit they fit. And they're boring.
-
Pads - I’m fairly easy going and not really fussed by them....

My Thigh pads & groin guard.. :)
-
Had to retire my set of P2 strippers this year after 6/7 seasons of use :(.
-
2011 - 2018 GN pro performance box
2012 - 2019* kook kahuna bat (was a spare but never actually used until 2017. it’s now a net bat only)
2013-2019* Stratton foxes still going strong.. I have had new straps though to keep them snug. They are way to big for me now due to weight loss but I cba to buy new ones yet.
2016-2019* match bat from 2016 is still in use with a bowler at the club
2017-2019* match bat will go into its 3rd season as I have not been able to find a bat of similar size, weight but most important.. sheer size of sweet spot and performance. I do only use it in league games and important cup games. Never in friendlies or 2020’s or nets so it’s on circa 4-5000 balls so is going strong still.
I would love a new bat or two exactly like this but so far, unable to find the genuine size, weight and performance (not jus middle but size of sweet spot up and down the bat). It is illegal though under new regs which is making life hard.. might have to accept the new bat regs
Gloves.. I’m chewing through 2 a season in matches and 6 pairs in nets from April to April. One set of pads are lasting a season of games and winter nets but are destroyed by April each season. Helmet is fine but does need a few new swoppa bands for sweat.

Box,,, I think it’s a sports direct thing, dunno, had it years
Bat, hmm, got a new one on the bench as I write this
Gloves, just picked up a lovely pair of top end Slazenger gloves,(can’t use anything else) I usually get a season out of em
Pads,,, dunno, was gonna bat in fielding pads this year,,wore keeping pads last year,,,speeds I face nowadays I’d get away with shin pads
Boots, I’ll use last seasons sl boosts, which I love
And my flat cap for batting,(yes I’m being serious) will last for as long as I keep playing,(might even bowl in it this year)
😉

Bat for me, my H4L Hattori is now approaching season number 6 and still going well. Just been refurbed by Tomtek so hoping it will last the season.
-
Unless I have a disaster I can't see myself changing any of my "main" kit on the near future.
My last complete overhaul was before the start of last season and I'm more than happy with my current stash.
Current longest serving piece of kit is my helmet (has it since 2017) or my Oakley sunglasses (had them since 2010 I think!)
-
This year I've changed everything except gn1000 spikes, helmet and box
-
Box and thigh guard along skull cap.
Box is 9 years old.
Thigh guards are 5-7 years old.
Skull cap is 5 years old.
They are still the initial ones which I had purchased.
-
Batting pads for me, tend to stick with these until they are falling apart.
For some reason new pads just don't seem as exciting as other gear
-
Managed to spike my own pads when attempting a “quick” single last season leading to a nice couple of rips so may have to replace them this year.
-
Bats - Try and remain faithful but often tempted to go elsewhere. Two nice Neons but I've now got a GN 2018 Pro Performance which I'm tempted to rehandle with a Hunts oval long handle.
Helmet - Albion 98s with rear holes for grille placement instead of slots. Comfy, light, good vision and enough protection.
Thigh pads - Remfrys, protection and comfort. I also have a pair of custom Strettons but I find them too fussy.
Box - Shock Doctor in their compression shorts.
Pads - Puma Iridium 5000 Flextech. Tried the 6000 but still prefer the 5000s. Not sure where to look to replace them when they give up.
Stretton fielding pads - Got hit hard twice on the shin in the same place. Saw these on ebay a few years back and thought I'd give them a try. Now feel naked without them. Tried Newbery fielding pads but prefer these.
Gloves - Seem to prefer pattern (pittards?) leather palms. GM OLE's, GN Velocity Test and Kook kangaroo leather. Feel and grip.
Shoes - Adidas, don't know why. Maybe it's knowing what size is comfortable.
-
I lost my original box a couple of seasons ago and have been through 3 before finding the one I really like - actually an American Football abdo guard
I'm also still using the Aero P2 strippers I bought about 10 years ago, although I must say they're on their last legs.
Batting pads I only have one pair and they're still fine, but the Velcro is starting to lose its stick. I thought about buying a new pair of pads and relegating these to "net pads", but all they really need is some new Velcro!
-
Box (7 years), GN legends Batting pads (3 years) and Slazenger lite thigh pads (4 years)
-
I still have the same box and same helmet as I've had since the 90s. If they still do the job, why waste money replacing them?
Pads and boots should last a decade before wearing out, gloves tend to wear our after 4-5 years, and bats are a lottery - but I'd hope to get 2-3 years out of a half-decent bat.
-
My helmet has just done its 3rd season, had that since late 2016 season. I have bought a couple of the Albion lids, one green for Frogs and a couple blue as spares as they were bargains. Otherwise my Nike spikes (2016), Asics spikes (end of season sales 2016) and my box (2016) are my longest surviving kit. As I'm sure has been noticed when I decide to change kit I do the lot and try to match to club colours where possible, only exception is my B3s which I get with white stickers normally.

Never get more than a season out of a set of gloves approx 12 games a season and are shot come Sep every year, i use separate net gloves as well, may get through a season netting plus winter nets from my net gloves as don’t net for that long during the season normally

what do you mean by "shot"?
I find it hard to believe that your gloves could possibly be so radically sub-standard compared to the £40 ones I bought from GM back in 2011 that eventually wore through in the thumb last season after more than 4000 runs.
(I still have them, I'm planning on taking them on tour with me to use for 3 final innings and then leaving them in Portugal).

I don’t get a summer and winter out of a set of pads and most certainly if I only used one set of gloves they’d be destroyed. However, I do play a lot of games and over the winter, face 3-400 balls most days so that’s a lot more than most
I generally need a new set of pads and 3-4 sets of gloves at the start of summer and a few OLS cheap ones for winter nets

My bag. Slazenger tour pro. Awesome and only £20. Had it 3 seasons and it shows no wear, is a great size and thankfully has a zipper valuables pocket.
-
Thigh Pads are changed most often as I am yet to find a good fit.
Box has been the same for past 5 years.
Morrant Pads have been the same for 5+ years, the bottom ends on left Pad has been through a mice attack but still the best pads in my opinion.
