managed to wrestle the helmet back off of Mr Tickner which arrived back with me this morning....hopefully be sending him a personalised one for the season though! :)
-
fantastic write up tom - you must be chuffed as hell!
-
Yeah nice to see someone who has grasped the concept of it and doesnt view it as a gimmick...helps when you have BSI results to back up your claims to prove the technology actually works but cant explain that to everyone i guess so hope this review helps to get the message across :)
-
Now that is a proper review! Well told and explained in depth why he liked it, not just some off the cuff remark as he is limited by word count!
Congrats Tom
-
I have to agree, felt so much better on my head than the Masuri which has gone from number 1 now, glad to be getting a custom.
-
Great review Tom - must be chuffer fella!
I haven't used my Alboib Ti22 since getting the Ayrtek!!!
Mike - have emailled you.

Is there an inner sweatband in the helmet? Anyone fancy posting a pic if the inside of their lid as I haven't see the airbag system?
-
Liam-no sweatband as the liner in made of PU in order to make it air-tight and therefore inflatable.....
All of the air chambers are filled to mould the liner to the shape of your head and get the best possible fit.
-
Ok thanks Tom, anyone that has really sweated in one, did it run down into your eyes? or is there good sweat management
-
Fantastic review and I love the way it was written could definately see a bit of myself in him. Hope you get as favourable review in wiaden

Agreed!
-
the more i see of ayrtek the more i want one !
-
Wisden went as expected for a rough working prototype we sent it to see how it was recieved. 2.5 out of 5 stars was ok considering there is alot of room for improvement with it in terms of making it lighter and getting the ACIS to fit properly in both models.
Were trying to get the balance between modern and traditional appearance to broaden our market appeal but ultimately are pushing the technology and new improved materials being used in the helmets.
-
well mine came today and is great and tom is a1 for customer service plus people especially in cricket are scared of new things i wear the original obo p1 batting pads and while all my team mates agree are lighter and ofeer better protection they would not buy them as are different but you can't fault the tech same with the ayrtek helmet hopefully will catch on at grass roots as anything that improves saftey is a good thing in my book
-
Roco as a small company we aim to give a personal service to our customers which is all part of the Ayrtek experience. We have learnt with our batting pads and gloves that were launched under CCC that change needs to be gradually accepted as it takes time to win people over.
Hopefully now the helmets are being seen as more than just a gimmick it will help people to view them in a different light and consider making a purchase given the amount of features you gain for a little extra outlay.
-
well you pay a little more with a smaller company but what you get back from people like yourselves is well worth the extra cost
-
I bought the wisden today, how thr f**k did that kookaburra helmet score higher than yours!? Do you any idea in mind as to when the traditional lids will be ready to order?
-
is there a possibility that advertisers get favourable treatment??? controversial i know
-
Liam not sure yet as we have some big decisions to make in the next few weeks in terms of direction
-
A superb write up, helmets are the piece of kit you shouldn't go cheap on, a dislocated jaw sounds awful.
Can you come up with an ACIS box, I seem to get hit in the pills a lot! (I know I should try using my bat)
-
Tom, great review. Threw up a question in my head though. Are you patented? Could the ACIS system really take off in other sports? Are lastly, how are you going about selling in to other cricket playing countries, like Aus?
-
Yes mate 2nd patent in my name now....the paperwork involved in getting there in unbeliveable as well as the costs but worth it in the long run. weve had people offer to be agents in other countries already and sell it on our behalf but would have to do our homework before going down that route.
-
HUGE opportunity obviously. You must be close to making your first million by now!
-
Yeah its question of planning and marketing strategy i think having done our homework and R and D in proving the technology works and is safer than other helmets available on the market proving they arent just a "gimmick".
-
could be a market in all these winter olympic sports for the A.S.I.C, luge, skeleton. Ski snowboard
To be Honest I think it would work well in any helmet!
-
To my suprise we just had an MMi3 reviewed by them. http://www.cricket365.com/soapbox/story/5980416/Gearing-Up-Mongoose-MMi3-Bat
Disagree with parts obviously and it seems he didn't get used to the extra batspeed. But as a review goes seems very fair, balance and well informed. Will be keeping an eye out on the rest of their reviews.
