Title: Lorimers
Post by: chris_1978 on April 01, 2019, 10:31:49 PM
Interested in a new pair of gloves and stumbled across Lorimers Pro Player 2019 pittard gloves on eBay. Being a southerner I’ve never heard of them, has anyone got any feedback on them? I see they also do pads at £45 a pop. All seems a tad on the cheap price wise, just interested if they are any good?

I wouldn't buy them, even they are cheap and look, good, there are so many on ebay for may be £5-£10 more, with better protection or even on the websites, there are so many sales going on 🙂

What makes the protection bad on the Lorimer's ones?

They are highly thought of in the north east, lots of people use their kit, the protection and quality is spot on

I've had a pair of gloves for netting before and there is nothing wrong with them. They are no different to many other gloves just don't have a big brand logo that adds £15 a pair

Lorimers generally have a good reputation for quality and VFM. They are a long established business. As @JB says, above- you aren't paying the big brand premium.

Ive used Lorimers sausage gloves before, they were the SS style. Great gloves, protection was fine

Just bought some, look v classy and well made for £35,quality Pittards, class above a similar model i got from Online Stockist(albeit still a bargain £20!)
They seem sourced from the same factory that other Co`s seem to use and charge £50+ for

I really don`t accept any £80 pair of gloves are that much better and worth the premium

Thanks for the comments following my original post.

I personally like soft palmed gloves, so get through a couple of pairs of gloves a season. It’s get expensive however spending £60 a pair, and the standard I now play the protection side of things doesn’t make much difference. So I’m just looking for something that looks decent but doesn’t come with the brand price tag. So might just give these a go

Had Lorimer's gloves before, see loads of them on the circuit up here.  Good quality and good protection.  Starting to see loads more Optimum cricket gear as well, got a pair of their gloves which are great quality for the money.  Look better in person than the pictures suggest:

Ive got a pair of the gloves from Lorimers, and have been using them in nets. Good quality and excellent value for money in my opinion!

Ordered a pair, arrived quickly. For £35 these are a bargain when compared against the rest of the branded market. Decent quality too. Add this to the fact I get through nearly two pairs a season this, I’m well happy with these
