Title: Binding twine and glue
Post by: jonny77 on May 20, 2019, 09:59:06 PM
Just wondered what's tie best twine to use for binding? Also, what glue do people use, any PVA? Finally, do people just glue to the handle or glue on top also?

I use butcher's twine from twinesonline.com . Don't know about best but picked the recommendation up off here and have used it for a while now, does a good job and they've got loads of different options so I could get it thicker than standard. Use PVA glue slightly watered down, on handle and then on top too.

Thanks mate, that's what I've used for the first couple. Is there a std thickness which most people use? Seen a lot of variation in terms of binding, so I suppose it all works.

Batmakers use woven cotton its stronger and easier to work with  and PVA i first glue the handle then put a smear of PVA over the cotton binding on completion.
