Here they are, courtesy of Tom.
Also, I think it is time that Mongoose have their own section in the companies list.
-
Class! Any pics if the inside of the pads & palms if the gloves?
-
These look class
-
sweet you got the softs and the gloves in the one picture. I love the softs and as I have said I will get a pair
btw I agree with mongoose having a companies section
-
Purely on looks - not a fan of the pads, but the gloves look good.
-
they look nice, but am i the only one who thinks that the pads need more colour and the gloves need less?
-
Class! Any pics if the inside of the pads & palms if the gloves?
Both pads have plain black insides with the knee locator, only black as these are samples.
MMi goves have black pittards palms and the Cor have normal white palms.
I love the pads plain look. Maybe the word Mongoose on the outside of the knee roll
-
Too much design on the pads for my liking but the gloves look nice =)
-
Look awful IMO but each to their own!
-
I think they look very nice.
-
with woodworm out of the picture it looks like this firm could fill that market.
not keen on the pads gloves look good but well done looks overall good stuff along with the bats
-
not keen
-
not for me.
-
I think they look good as they are different to everything else on the market. Well done Tom!
-
Would have liked a more traditional pad instead of two 'modern' style pads - but this is just my personal preference, but hard to judge them untill they have all the finishing touches applied.
The electric blue (Colesy, calm down!) is a colour you are going to either love or hate, the red gloves i would imagine to be the better seller with the black palms.
Forgot to ask, are the pittards from yeovil or from india?
-
Really like both sets, think the blue stand out really well, but could probably have a little more branding on the pads
-
Not to my taste, but then I am a traditional sort at heart!
-
I like the design of the pad, but the key thing is the price. I think Mongoose need to price their softs competitively. Any news on the prices tom?
-
dont think they'll be cheap. looking at kookaburra rp prices....i think i was told
-
Pads are plain as they're pro editions, so one logo on each pad. Would hope also there would be a little more colour on them.
Gloves have a black pittard palm from Yeovil in a slightly different texture.
-
Being a somerset lad i like to see the yeovil pittards being used - good stuff!
-
dont like the pads, gloves are ok though
-
Sorry not a fan at all ;)
-
Like the pads but not the gloves.
-
Like the pads but not the gloves.
yeah that's my feelings. I love the unique blue on the gloves, but I doubt I will buy a pair. But I will be buying some of those pads, maybe the mmi style and skip the colour cordination me and tom joked about
oh btw. Gratzs to mongoose for wining the innovation award they were up for
-
yeah i like the cor gloves but the mmi pads! May have to ignore the matchingness if i get some!
-
Not my cup of tea, but each to their own.
-
Both look nice IMO..... Crazy Idea, I think Airtek and Mongoose should become one, Mongoose should be looking to become a major brand now I reckon and not many major brands have mastered helmets, would be a great brand with the uniquest of everything!
(Want some of the profit if this goes through!) lol
-
Bit on mong-Ayr you mean ;) we were showed the bats at early prototype stage but at the time we were just getting our R&D done on the helmets as well so wasn't really viable. Thing mongoose are on the right lines with the gloves but pads remind me of the puma ones that were produced before. (Not sure of the model name) but as with amy serious brand you need to offer more than just one product on the market now.
-
cor 3 kit is lushh are mongoose going to be offering sponsorships for county players ??
-
blue / turqouise gloves look awesome....
-
I really like the gloves but I am not a huge fan of the pads, could do with a similar splash of colour as the gloves and less patterning on the fronts.
A very impressive first start into the market
-
Dwayne Smith was using the MMi gloves today, looked very nice
-
Not a great pic but:

-
The blue sausage style look very very nice indeed, when are they available Tom and at what cost ? guessing somehow they ain't going to be cheap or will i get discount as I'm left handed.
-
Have to agree with Tom (Ayrtek) pads look like a copy of the Puma Stealth/Atomic range from 2/3 years ago. But love the gloves especially the blue ones
-
Do you have a pic of which ones they're copies of? As we would ideally like to do something different/unique rather than stick to a stock pad used previously.
-
i think mongoose should really be concentrating more along the lines of upperbody protection:p
-
Tom...not saying they are and exact copy but seems the template (shape) of the Puma 4000 has been used and some extra ridges/slices/grooves have been added to yours...I think the gloves are very original which is obviously what you are after with your brand i.e. looking to be the Shepherd rather than the sheep in terms of trend setting.
The lower halves shape and top hat seem similar to the Puma's below... so perhaps with some minor tweaks and additional curvature they would be viewed as more original in terms of design?! Only my 2 pence worth of constructive criticism :)
-
I am not sure they are all that alike - but what would I know. Personally I prefer the look of the more traditional style pad than these.
I think they look more like the VKS pads (http://www.vks.com/legguard/legguard.htm) the LG2 version. Not that I like them either though!
Having said that - given that Mongoose are a new company with modern ideas, it makes more sense for them to have a more modern style of pad.
-
like these puma stealths
(http://www.crickworld.com/Crickimages/STEALTH4000PADS.jpg)
-
yeah they were the ones I was thinking of!!!
-
when I was trying to remember the pads I did think of those puma ones Tom Ayrtek posted, however I doubt puma would file a lawsuit about it. Otherwise we would have a lot of lawsuits because of the design of the classic style of pads
-
To be fair to Mongoose it is very hard to find a design that has not been done before and I applaud them for simply not just taking an existing design and rebranding it. That style has been done before to a certain extent but what hasn't? If they keep tweaking it and working in some out of the box thinking I'm sure it will evolve into a distinct look to match their bats. These things take so much time, I'm sat here with a huge pad of paper and have nailed gloves but still tinkering with pads, such a hard area to stand out in.
Also Puma would not own any design of soft's, they just adapt existing designs, I'd say only Aero have produced something truly new in Pads recently.
-
I do like the minimal branding on the pads, the gloves could be seen as a bit garish but each to their own.
-
Also Puma would not own any design of soft's, they just adapt existing designs, I'd say only Aero have produced something truly new in Pads recently.
Could include Ayrtek in that aswell
-
lol cheers mate ;) I thought ours were pretty original...after all the Imperial Trooper abuse im glad we got a mention!!
many hours of designing, sampling and tweaking went into them, hence why I have already been where Mongoose and Mike are with the designs and trying to come up with somethig original etc.....cant believe I have been doing this for half a decade already....mind you I have the grey hairs to show for it!
-
Looks wise I had a set of ?Zenith? pads in the late 80's/early 90's that were very similar to the Cut pads, but I think Tom has created something in gloves that are truly different on the inside, will be looking to steal/buy this idea when modified slightly!!!
-
Sorry for bringing up an old topic but is there any idea on prices?
-
Anyone have a release date for these?
-
Hope your not going to discriminate against us lefties Tom ?
-
Will have some of each mens size (small, standard, oversized) in both hands.
-
Do the palms have pittards Tom?
-
Any price indication on the cor 3 version.
-
Symonds is using the Cor3 gloves pictured in this topic. They really are nice gloves. His cane pads look soooo nice!!
-
Why does he wear zinc cream at night, are the lights really bright?
-
Possibly down to the glare off his lips Mike lol.
-
I'm right in thinking it is a sun protector???
-
might just be his lucky charm?
-
Yes zinc cream is a high factor sun protector which makes it even more bizarre ?
-
I personally don't see anything that impressive with the gear - the pads are very similar to those Marcus North wore during the last Ashes when sponsored by Puma and the gloves - well the red ones I can tell by looking would annoy me as the padding stretches right up over the back of your hand and would rub against my wrist (as the Kookaburra ones bar the Kahunas do - in fact most non sausage/shark), but the other gloves I quite like, good colour scheme in particular, but nothing amazingly 'different' about them? I'm not saying that there should be I just want to avoid the standard forum hype when a brand people feel linked to does something - see Fusion about 2 years ago, every new bat was a gun...

-
Tom any indication on prices as nothing on the site just yet, also i never got reply to my email.
-
Prices similar to top line Adidas/Puma softs.
Will read through my emails now.
-
I'm liking the pads something different the gloves look pretty nice as well, prefer the look of the red ones
-
ny news on the release of these? any nearer to confirming a date? especially the cor gloves :D???
-
Full release won't be until September. Can offer a limited range of our player equipment for sale though, so if anyone wants a set of gloves previously reserved for Matthew Hayden, Jimmy Anderson or Andrew Symonds get in touch.
-
pm'd!!
-
PM tom
-
Excited about the cor3 gloves now!! Hopefully all will come good with getting some and we'll get our first proper view at them! :D :D
-
Watching the T20 on tv last night, it looked as if blackwell had a white patch covering the mongoose logo :S, seemed odd!
Maybe because he hasnt any coloured mongoose pads? and so is using puma??
-
Why does he wear zinc cream at night, are the lights really bright?
whewn in aus the biggest zinc company his face is there logo so he is paid a lot to always use it!!
-
Interestingly, i went into Holt and Haskell and went and picked through a few of their bats. They had an adidas incurza county with 12 straight grains, not a blemish on it and it was £110, bargain!
Anyway - i noticed that the mongoose mmi3 had two rather different styles with regards to the shoulders, two bats and two different shapes - im guessing that either this is a mix of hunts and sareen bats, or last years and this years models with different shapes?
Be interested to know which one it is, if any?
-
Hunts and our other UK manufacturer, no UK EW bats come from India (Inc Jnr bats)
-
Thanks for clearing that one up, the quality of the new one's looked better in my opinion.
-
Ahhh what about blackers tom? not got his coloured goose pads yet, batted very well yesterday though, must be pleased with him! Shame symonds isn't firing yet!!!
-
The old mongoose bats picked up like logs!
-
Ahhh what about blackers tom? not got his coloured goose pads yet, batted very well yesterday though, must be pleased with him! Shame symonds isn't firing yet!!!
Yep, no coloured pads as he was a late addition to the roster.
Very pleased with Blackwell, Allenby, Vaas and Gareth Andrew all have played well in the T20's
-
Yeah those 3 gareth andrew sixes must have done quite a bit!!
Didnt know vaas was signed up!
-
Yeah, someone in our seconds watched Andrew on sky and his wife asked how he was hitting it so well. He said about the bat and she told him that he should get one. They went and got one the day after! Waiting to nab it for a net session now!!
You should try and get a Somerset player, down on those pitches and Taunton. Jos Buttler would be a good bet as it would be good to get a keeper bat, even though you don't do keeping kit yet.
-
It's been said that at the same age Jos Butler is showing more ability than Kieswetter with both bat and gloves.....he certainly looked decent when i had a bowl at him :D
Fair play to mongoose - in lots of shops, getting good exposure and seem to be settling into the market well, i thought they were destined to go down the same road as Woodworm but i'm more than happy to say that it looks like i was wrong.
-
Yeah well i'm a very very satisfied customer with my cor3, and its gone down a storm in my club, all the talk is about my goose! "get the goose out", "can i use the goose" "is the goose coming out today" etc etc and its only the cor3! when i start earning a bit more money i'm sure i'll get myself a mmi to have a bash with! And imagine the rection to that...
Lots of arguements and controversy within mine and im sure your clubs as to pros and cons of the mmi, which i think its healthy even if not all agree with it being good, as atleast everyone has recognised them and is talking about them!!
Keep up the good work!
Will be even more pleased when i get myself some cor3 gloves ;) any news on that dleivery tom?? Sorry to be pushy, just got a sale depending on these gloves (selling old ones and getting these) but i suppose if they arent ready they aren't ready :D!!
-
I'm probably in the minority here but I think the softs only look ok. I'm sure the quality is top notch but I just expected so much more. Produce a revolutionary bat and it sets a benchmark for the softs to follow. Surely something ultra light tendulkar style was the order of the day - in keeping with T20. Not sure what could be done with gloves but I feel it's missed a trick.
-
I dunno, i think they look good, which is a lot of what people care about!! I dont think there are many things to do with softs to radicalise them, and unlike bats radical softs would be much harder to prove they are worth it! As in bats if its more likely your going to hit a six its a massive thing, if its more like to rebound less off yours pads no-one gives much of a crap in comparison! Not many designs can be done that are truely radical, a much harder area to crack as less to play with, i'm sure they prove us wrong sometime in the future, but aslong as they look good and quality is high then people will want them to join the revolution!!!
-
including me!!!
-
I agree with Peplow there's not much that can be done, well there probably is but getting it out there and getting people using it, is a different matter! Take Aero as a example good products, revolutionary but they don't appeal to enough people! I'm sure Aero have sold a lot of products this is not a dig at them at all but they aren't one of the brands you'd expect to go out and see regularly!
-
I think for someone to use something radical there needs to be enough evidence that its going to make a big difference and a difference that its worth taking a punt on.
Aero is revolutionary as outlaw said but i wouldnt expect to see them as people think that the disadvantages of looking different and it not being traditional outweighs the advantages of the pads technology and lightness etc.
And imo thats difficult to overcome with softs, as the advantages will be very hard to make so good and worth having (as softs arent that vital to people, not as vital bats!) that they will be taken over the look of the pad.
However i do think aero miss out with not having bats, as many people see the complete package and internationals using all of them as a plus. Aero were much more talked about when tait and malinga etc used them.... this is something mongoose will have the advantage on, with established bats being used to good effect at the moment!
Just my thoughts.
-
If aero were to create a pad with traditional looks and more traidtional materials without any loss in tachnology (and they were reasonably priced) and the technological advances were still pushed then i think they'd be more of a hit with people....
And people may reply with "mmi bat is very radical and untraditional" but this is my point, the mmi is all about hitting harder and further, a very important attribute and seen as worth taking a punt on looking different for that advantage as its the most major part of cricket, much more than pad and glove attributes!
-
Yeah I think Mongoose have hit the nail on the head with sponsorships meaning they're a lot more talked about! Aero never had anyone really high profile or any serious batsman! And I think most batsman want softs that do the job but also look the part not a lot of people are keen on the Aero looks, Mongoose for me have created something modern and also good looking complements the bats well and people will buy it!
-
Agreed!
Would be interested to see what they've got in the pipeline though, as i reckon something mega radical is coming!!
-
Mongoose gear for sale at cricket direct. First thoughts WTF! £55 for a pair of gloves? Talk about a blatant attempt at ripping people off. I think the guys at mongoose think they can compete with the likes of Kookaburra and GM and charge us top prices. Outrageous.
http://www.cricketdirect.co.uk/Catalogue/Batting-Gloves/Mongoose-Batting-Gloves/Mongoose-MMi3-Series-7-Batting-Glove-182001
-
Gloves and no pads? Odd.
I havnt seen any softs being sold in any shop, just the bats - i presume it could be next year that softs will be available for general public?
-
Some in owzat store, not online.
-
There's about 10 pairs in total which have ever been sold. Which is just spare player equipment. £60 RRP for a pair of strictly ltd edition gloves which are pro spec is reasonable IMO.
-
Got any left after saying you may have some a while ago? heard nothing? let me know tom....
