Title: Paul Aldred repairing Morg bats
Post by: Mfarank on June 22, 2019, 07:44:55 AM
So i got a hold of some pics shared by Paul on one of his groups. Make of these what you will. Not sure if the bats actually belong to Morgan. But they're ones from Ca for sure. Keep in mind Ca are charging nearly GBP400 for these.

This one has even got a nail in the handle for some reason.

Very arrogant man - doesn’t think Asian brands can make bats

Typical CA handles though - morgan’s Bats sound like guns

From what Iv seen on here and via his FB page I wouldn’t go anywhere near a CA bat. Filler, nails all sorts in the handles

He should be taking responsibility for his failure yesterday as well then. He is sounding like morgan played that inning using just a handle.

Have to ask the question, if his bats are so good why would Morgan be sending him CA bats to repair. Surely aldred would want to send him a few of his own.
Sllightly embarrassed to claim that his handle did all the work

Whatever you think of the guy he certainly knows how to make a great bat.
You will not find nails in his handles or filler in the splice.
I’ve never met him but I’ve owned 3 of his bats, all lower grade, and they have all been great.

One of my mates ordered a custom made bat by him. He specifically asked for 2.9 bat but he was delivered 2.12 bat. When my mate contacted and complained to him, he blocked my mate.

I have one bat made by Paul. I haven't used it much but it is pretty good. The weight was fine it was the handle thickness which didn't meet the spec.

You'd be missing out on a great bat. :)

I have a few. One (knock on wood) is 6 seasons old. I am using it again for my matches, my beloved Keeley doesn't do well near the toe but my CA does.

What good is a bat with a perfect handle, moisture level, and pressing if you are not going to use it.

They seem fairly well made, Im sure one his bats would be fine, long as you’re happy with a bat weighing 4 ounces more than when he sent you a photo of it on the scale.....

I know three people this has happened to.

Criticizes Asian brands of trying to reduce weight by over-drying and using narrower blades all the time and sends my good mate this lol

As previously said in another post... I am sure he makes a good bat... but his self righteous opinionated videos and hearing of other peoples negative experience... I wouldn't buy from him...  I wouldn't buy a CA either even though I think they alongside Malik are best bats out of Pakistan... but there's better value... in fact I'm pretty much a GM fan at the moment... I digress but taking credit for the handling  bat... smacks of hypocrisy ...

I'm sure it's a bit of tongue and cheek. He did fix his handles and thats some great marketing for him.

I read it as he implied that he’d made a bat(s) for Morgan as part of the repair job.

Yeah you do need to be careful with this haha. I ordered 2lb 6 knowing full well id get a 2lb 8-9 which is the weight i wanted.

Or maybe, I know this is a radical suggestion, he could just make a bat that actually weighs what the customer asks!

It's not an ideal service if you have to ask for something different, knowing you won't get what you actually asked for anyway, in order to get the desired outcome...

Agreed, I do like Aldred bats, but if you were after a new 1.8 engine car you wouldn’t expect to walk into a car dealer and have to order 2 litre engine expecting that they will only give you a 1.8 as that will drive just the same.

I used 3lb bats but the 2.12 Velocity I got off him was an awful pick up

Based on my knowledge, yes.

Surely these are not actaully CA bats with a nail in the handle. They are clearly SF's that have been re-stickered, I'm sure SF have patented the Iron Composite Handle

More than likely... wasn't Morgan with SF for a while... Aldred needs to be careful about what he says and not blame CA for that...

Ca may have their faults but unfair pinning something on them when it may not be their doing... as for the bent handle I remember this happening to Misbah... players may want whippy handles and this is the fallout...

Yes, on a number of occasions during the world cup he has implied that he had made bats for Morgan.  Still , it is amusing to see him talking up Morgan's Asian made bats that aldred stuck new Asian made handles in
