Gents, this year we have a repeat fixture against Kilve CC for their cricket week on Friday the 26th July. Those that played last year include myself, @neoncricketuk @jamesisapayne @velvetsky01 @edge and many more, and all can attest to what a cracking day it was and how much fun was had by all.
Kilve is a great little ground a stones throw from the sea with a newly renovated pavilion. It's got a fully stocked bar and great teas to boot.
We currently have 10 for this fixture that played last year, so we are in need of 1 more.
There will be plenty of kit on show as well as plenty of beverages to be drunk so please get involved. Also, I have heard that as the away side we will be invited to bat first which is always a great incentive.
Drop me a message or comment if you are interested in playing.
Current team is as follows:
@edge
@jamesisapayne
@Neon Cricket
Myself
@velvetsky01
@Tailendfielder
@Gurujames
@AlRidd
@t2ylo

Ah perfect didn't realise you were in, will amend now

Has anyone asked @Gurujames @spoonbed @DorsetDan @mcgill123 ??
Stick @t2ylo down, he'll probably be on one leg by then but won't be able to resist talking appropriate scuff sheet qualities and toe guard colours with everyone :)

Gurujames is in, Dorset Dan is in too but awaiting Conformation, haven't asked spooned or mcgill, have got t2ylo down too but he said he would play if required and would most likely be hobbling around doing the ground.

I'm quite interested, my wife is off work at the moment so we could have a few days holiday and possibly sneak in this game on the way back up to York.
Primarily a bowler who likes to bowl at the end of innings when the proper batsmen are already out.

Alridd is in

Hi guys. This is the first I have heard of this :) I am done for the season unfortunately (combination of fingers dislocating and being a grumpy bugger). Sorry!
You gotta come out for this one Dan! Was good fun last year
-
@DorsetDan fingers dislocating?
Strap them up and pop 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen before fielding. Repeat at drinks if needed.
You'll be fine! ;)

Sounds great, it's a lovely part of the country :)

Unless something comes up, I have spoken to the wife and she is fine with the idea.

Oh no! A rare collapse by the CBFers

Scores?

CBF 191ao off just shy of 35 overs, top score 53 by @jamesisapayne. Kilve came up about 30-40 short with 1 wicket left? Someone will know better than that ha.

CBF 191ao with runs from @jamesisapayne and lots of impressive other cameos...
Kilve 170-9 with wickets for the tipsy Cornish boys & various other members
Lovely day

It was the second pm. The first was sent on the 6th of July but no worries. Just thought you were still sort and I could help out. Sounds like you had a busy but great time.
-
Sorry this match report has taken so long. Work has been crazy busy.
With only 1 of a measly 9 hitting our 12ish meet time, and everyone else being late (yours truly included) it rather set the tone for the day from the CBF team.
Those of us that were there had a quick net on one of the Kilve practice wickets, which included me getting out to @edge trying to ramp him twice, Dave getting hit by some military medium pace full bungers, and two blokes rocking up in minor counties kit and sinking beers from the minute they arrived (@AlRidd and his mate Tom).
1:30 arrived and in true MCC fashion CBF were invited to bat first on what looked to be a great deck. However, I quickly came to regret my decision after Adam @Neon Cricket missed a straight one, and I lobbed a catch to backward point, our score read 'not very many - 2' however, @edge landed some lusty blows and cleared the fence on multiple occasions, to give out innings some impetus. However, he fell caught behind soon after looking comfortable. Jamie ( @jamesisapayne) came out and showed what benefit home team advantage can have, he batted really nicely cutting, pulling and mooing his way to a well constructed 51 retired. @AlRidd then went to sweep a straight one, missed it, was plumb in front of all 3, and in true Johnny bairstow style, stood there and tried to review it. However, much to the amusement of the CBF team, his mate (some bloke called Tom) was umpiring and videoed his dismissal and quickly showed him just how out he was. The other highlight of the innings was Chris @t2ylo telling his team that Jamie would run passed one when he came back in, Jamie duly obliged on the first ball he faced after returning to the crease. CBF ended around 190 for their innings which we felt was a reasonable total.
After an excellent tea and a few beers all round CBF went into the field. We opened the bowling with our minor counties pairing. Some bloke called Tom took the first over, and proceeded to only bowl 1 of his first 6 on the cut strip. A great start for us. Fortunately Riddy @AlRidd could bowl and got us an early couple of breakthroughs. Some bloke called Tom then eventually bowled a straight ball and bowled another one of the Kilve batsmen. Jamie then bowled his full quota and bowled really nicely, and picked up a wicket or 2 and edge bowled really nicely in tandem with him. The highlight of our innings was a spell from one of the Kilve juniors - Lucy who bowled 4 overs 3 maidens 2-2 which was a cracking effort from her.
The rest of our innings was somewhat difficult to recount as we were all a bit busy ribbing each other about our terrible performances,particular highlights or lowlights as the May be included me being megged at cover for 4, minor counties Alex falling over trying to change direction after trying (badly) to anticipate the direction of the ball and inappropriate Tom launching a howitzer from the boundary only for it to be nowhere near any of our players (it must have missed Dave behind the stumps by a good 15feet) and going for a 2 bounce 4 over the other side of the boundary. The number of byes in our innings from leaden footed dave was also a particular lowlight, and as he had let so many byes through, towards the end of the innings he decided unless it was on the off side he wasn't going to attempt to stop it, I think by that point he'd had enough :D all in all it was a great day out and thanks go again to Chris and Kilve CC for hosting a brilliant day and allowing us to come again. However I fear after the antics of inappropriate Tom if we get asked back we may not be allowed to bat first due to his total inability to hold his booze.
