For all the bat makers on here please can I ask what glue do you use for glueing the splice in and also any of the more major repairs etc you carry out?
Thanks

Various wood glues tried and all work fine if properly clamped. I wanted to find the glue that Fantail cricket use in their repair videos on Youtube. It is clear and slightly brown coloured. I think it might be Gorilla Glue. Has anyone else tried this? It seems to have worked well on a few major repairs I did recently. You have to clamp the repair and then the glue expands, with any excess drying as a yellow foam. Didn't leave such an unsightly dark line along the repaired crack, which is good, but quite difficult to remove the excess.

... I'm not a bat maker though, just an amateur repairer...

Same hear, just do amateur repairs not a bat Maker! I’ve seen cheap PVA in a few batmakers workshops and on videos so it must do the job. Just for piece of mind I pay a little bit more for Gorilla Glue PVA and had no issues.👍

Only works on Lekka bats.

Cheers all, so it seems from a couple of reply’s and from a few bat makers Gorilla glue is the best option so I’ll give that a go as it’s a rather special bat I want to repair and get some use from.

Did they recommend Gorilla Glue, or Gorilla Wood Glue? The first is the one I have been using recently...
-
I've used both gorilla glue and PVA and have found little difference between the two to be honest - I've been using a decent PVA for the past few months and it does the job for any repairs/refurb jobs I've had to do

Pretty sure some of the top makers use animal glue
