Title: Kookaburra SmartBall
Post by: j.f.101 on August 11, 2019, 11:35:42 AM
Seems like Kookaburra are very keen to get in on sports-tech innovations: after the "Stancebeam", now comes the "SmartBall" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_sLre0qo3g (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_sLre0qo3g)

Designed for measuring the spin/speed of the ball at various stages of its trajectory, and apparently it can also detect the difference between hitting the edge of the bat and the edge of the pad/clothing, so it could be used for umpiring as well

Looks a lot more useful to me than the Stancebeam, though I think the main value is still for broadcasting.. Still, would love to get my hands on one just out of curiosity
