Title: What to do for my son??
Post by: Mel Jessop on August 26, 2019, 09:40:51 AM
Hi folks, just wondering what ppl's thoughts were on this.

My son has just turned 13 however in height he is way to tall now for child/harrow sized bats, he has had to use my pads and gloves this year, I'd say he is probably around 5'11, he has been using a size six bat hie grandfather bought him three years ago this season but it is obvious that it isn't long enough for him and a full size adult bats like mine are too heavy for him to swing around, so what are the options?

1) get a very light adult bat?
2) have a bat maker make an adult length but harrow width bat?

Or do guys have other ideas?

Thanks

Mel.

A reasonably priced small men’s/academy size in the end of season sales to get through the winter. By the start of next year the way kids seem to grow he is probably going to be ready for a full size bat, anything 2’4 to 2’7 is realistic if you are prepared to hunt out the right bat

Son of same age and size. Also coach a team of boys & girls of same age with same issue.
Really light SH bats have worked really well - I’ve found some very light Adidas bats (thin handle) I agree with Jake and search for light weight - they can be found

Hi all, we can look at playing with blade and handle sizes to get a combination to suit your sons needs.

Following on from our private chat, when you come to see us please bring your sons current bat so we can look at weight etc.

Have you tried lending him one of your bats and seeing how he gets on? 5'11" is definitely time for an adult bat, just get one sorted at a weight that suits - really light if necessary, but I'd bet good money it isn't.
