Anyone know who makes the armguard sweatband hybrid a few players seem to be wearing in the ashes?
And if so how do I go about getting one?
-
I’ve had a fair few people ask over the last few weeks so am having a batch made up using D3O foams inside of the sweatbands 👍
-
Noticed a lot of the England players wearing them through the ashes

Do you have a rough idea on price of these Tom?
-
Prob looking at £13 inc delivery 👍

I'll take on please Tom when you're taking orders
-
It seems that process may have already begun judging from the PM's I've had already :)
Drop me a line with ur delivery address and ill raise an order on the system and that will reserve stock that way too.
-
Few people asking what they will look like, this is what I’ve been using all season. I’ve gone for black to help hide the dirt from the pitch/sweat etc.

So they have the guard inside the lining of the sweatband?
-
@Ayrtek Cricket will there be any white ones available for the "traditionalists"?

Second this
-
So they have the guard inside the lining of the sweatband?
Yes the padding in inside of the sweatband so it serves a dual purpose to mop up sweat and add protection at the same time. I’ve dished out a few in white to the Pros for feedback over the season so I don’t think it will be an issue. I’ll just need to source more white sweatbands as I’ve got about 300+ of the black in stock already.
-
I’ll have a white one when you have the stock please.
-
I’d prefer a white one I must say but black would be fine
-
Id be interested in one of each!
-
Could you also possibly share a quote with delivery to UAE? This looks lovely!

Drop me a PM with the delivery address and I’ll get a price inc delivery sorted 👍

No worries, if people who’d like to order one drop me a PM with delivery details and I’ll raise an order on my inventory system as it will then reserve stock and make it easier for me to track 👍

How close to the elbow does the protection get?
-
How close to the elbow does the protection get?
It depends where you put the sweat band! ;)
-
These look really good, i copped a few on the forearm last season due to some dodgy pitches but always found traditional arm guards uncomfy
-
They are online to pre-order now if people prefer to pay via card....
https://www.ayrtekcricket.com/product/hybrid-sweatband-d3o/ (https://www.ayrtekcricket.com/product/hybrid-sweatband-d3o/)
The black will be 6" on this first order whilst the white is 4", black will have an Ayrtek logo whilst the white are plain until the i recieve the bulk order of 6" white ones ive got being made complete with the Ayrtek Cricket logo.
-
whats 2" Tom eh!? ha
White Ordered :-)
-
its all about the girth!
-
Haha
Can these be machine washed ?
-
Haha
Can these be machine washed ?
It's a question ive put to the boffins at D3O as it will make life much easier if the foam protection is integrated so its non-removable and they can simply be chucked in the wash without having to take it out each time.
I shall report back once I hear back with answers. I received a sample pack of materials on Thursday and one pre-formed set looks like it may fit nicely into the 6" versions. Ill chuck some pics up shortly once I can dive out to the office to grab them.
-
Ok thanks Tom
If they can’t will be a shame as I wash mine every wash with my kit (obviously depends on how long I batted for that weekend)
I am unsure if it’s the same material as the Stratton foxes as George said they could be machine washed - although I haven’t tested that yet
-
Well done for adding to your product portfolio Tom I'm sure will go well - especially via the forum
-
Thanks mate, it's a product I did a while ago now but seems demand has been renewed for it recently so im happy to be able to resurrect them with an added update/upgrade too.
-
Here’s one of the options, each sweatband would contain a single module meaning you’d obv position it facing towards the bowler where you’re most likely to be hit.
The other option is to use a sheet that wraps around the end tire forearm inside of the sweatband that I’ve produced previously.
R&D is always the most enjoyable part of the job!

-
Would the 6" single module be wide enough to use as shin protection?
-
Exciting times!
Personally depending on the added weight and how comfortable it would be I would head towards a piece wrapping around the entire forearm. I often find when sweeping it can expose the opposite side to where the protection would usually sit leading to the odd blow (which can hurt a lot and give you a real good dead arm) if its an extra protective point with it wrapping round I can't see a reason for any complaints so long as it remains comfortable and light.
-
Personally I think just the outer forearm would suffice. You can't cover everything and I've never had an issue getting hit on the inner arm.
Looks a great product tho mate.
-
Just to confirm, I’ll have 4” blank (logo free) white ones shortly. I’ve got a batch (1000) white 6” ones with the Ayrtek cricket logo being produced currently that will be approx 3 weeks.
Black wise I’ve got plenty of 6” in stock that have a red Ayrtek logo on them.
-
I ordered a white one Tom when do you think il be receiving it? No rush just wondering
-
Aiming for the end of the month...chasing up the sweatbands atm tho!
-
Few people have asked about buying the normal white sweatbands as well, Happy to sell these as a pair without the padding as a "normal" sweatband too.
-

So it's a sweat band and arm protection for £6?
-
No they are just the sweatbands for £5.99. The hybrid dual purpose sweatband is £15 per unit as the cost of the D3O and integrating it takes time.

6” white version will be with me shortly, happy to offer these as a Hybrid or some people have asked about a pair of normal sweatbands that I can do for £8 inc UK delivery.
-
Ah good I did wonder where mine were ha
-
Yes sorry seems I didnt make it 100% clear that they would be a few weeks from ordering.
The black and 4" white ones should be ready early next week as the D30 is en route to me today. The 6" white ones were being made from scratch as I've had the logo included on them.
-
We’re off and running, just waiting on the 6” White sweatbands now that have the logo on them that are being finished off currently.
All order for the black and 4” white will be processed ASAP for dispatch.

They look brilliant - can't wait for the white 6s to arrive
-
Just a note, if anyone has ordered the black or 4” white and is yet to pay if you can ping it over to tom@ayrtekcricket.com they will be rolling out the door early next week.
6” white ones are being finished off in the factory (as I’ve got 1000 of them being embroidered) and will update on progress ASAP.
-
What if you paid a week or so ago Tom?
-
They are being finished off for dispatch next week
-
Hi there, I've been thinking about purchasing a couple of these. Great idea.
For clarity which D30 protection design did you go for; the full wrap around or just a singular removable section?
Also, any update on the washing capability? I assume that hand washing is fine, but the ability to machine wash with your kit would be great.
-
I opted for the modular piece in the end as it enabled a thicker piece to be used al be it in a localised area. The thinking was on the basis that you’d position it so that it covers the area exposed to the bowler like typical forearm guards.
Machine washing at 30 degrees hasn’t shown any issues after I’ve done a few tests on the samples so they should be fine to bundle in with your whites too 👍
-
Great, thank you for the further clarification.

Rollng out the 1st batch delivery today, there's approx 15x 4" white plain ones left in stock before the white will revert to a 6” model with the Ayrtek Cricket logo by default.

It's like one of those WAGatha Christie books - "and then there were none" ;-)
-
Still one 4” available as had a couple of people swap to the )” version that are leaving the factory at the end of the week to head to me.
I’ve had a week wiped out off of work last week with a family trip early in the week and my son then being sent home from school I’ll on Thursday (whilst the grandparents are also away!!) meaning I’ve had to look after him. Apologies for the delays in getting them out last week as I only picked up the first batch on Wednesday with the aim of getting them dispatched on Thursday....I managed a handful before the school rang! I’ve dispatched all the 4” orders today so it’s just those waiting on the 6” model (apart from those who have ordered the 4” + 6” combo).
They have been posted via Royal Mail 1st class so should reach you all within 1-2 days. 👍
-
A new batch of black being finished off for tomorrow for those that have ordered and haven't received them yet.
White 6" ones are en route and due to arrive with me on Tuesday, ill turn these around with the integration of the D3O into them and get them out to those that have pre-ordered them.
If anyone does want to tag on a non-hybrid set of the 6" white sweatbands to their order I'm happy to do them at £6 a pair.
-
Sight delay due to customs but I now have 1000 of the white jumbo sweatbands in stock (along with limited stock of them in plain white without a logo).
I’ll be making up the hybrid versions ASAP to get them out the door to those waiting 👍

-
Can I have a 6" hybrid non branded to match the 4" I've ordered? And no rush, they'll arrive when they arrive.
-
Yes mate no probs, I’ll update ur order accordingly. Will all be ready for dispatch by Monday with any luck 👍
-
Sorry Tom are there any unbranded 4 inch left? First time back on here in a few months and I'm already buying more kit ;)
-

I’ve got a handful of them left yes if u want one mate, for ref the new ones that arrived are closer to 5” then 6! Clearly the conversion rate in China is somewhat exaggerated 😆
-
Yes please let me know how i can pay? Are you still in Bristol? Can probably collect work just outside the centre.
-
Yes mate, I’m in the Bedminster Down area 👍 Happy to post them though if it’s easier so ping over a delivery address via PM if you like.
PayPal link below for ease of ref:-

My wife says its a similar conversion rate in this house :(
-
A lot like how my 7 runs on a Saturday typically turns into a 20 something by the time I’m back to the club and someone asks how I got on 🤥
-
Yes the one I got is 5''. Quite small. Would you usually wear it on the wrist above the glove, on the forearm or on the elbow?
-
That a 4” one as I’ve not dispatched any of the new ones yet 👍
I’d wear it above the wristband of my glove to protect the forearm personally.
-
I’ve got 2x 4” blank ones left now if anyone is after the shorter unbranded version.
That’s used up all the stock I had of the unbranded white ones so will only be available in black or white jumbo (6”) size going forward.
-
First batch of the 6” branded white ones have just gone out the door, thanks for your patience with these!

Thanks to Alex Wakely of Northants these have now reached the pro circuit, drops off the Middlesex, Glos and Northants.
Just to make it 100% clear these aren’t intended to be a rigid structure like an actual arm guard hence the hybrid terminology, they are aimed at players who wouldn’t wear a forearm guard but would use these as they are a flexible option that will provide protection via the D3O layer if hit. The dual purpose element obv coming by having a sweatband that can be used to mop up sweat whilst you’re at the crease too 👍
-
Hi, are any of the 4" unbranded sweat bands still available? Or if possible, 6" unbranded?
-
Hi, are any of the 4" unbranded sweat bands still available? Or if possible, 6" unbranded?
All the 4 inch ones i had left went down to Lords last week, I've got a batch of blank 6 inch white ones being made up today if you want to order one?
You can either send payment to tom@ayrtekcricket.com via paypal along with a delivery address or order via the website and stick a note that you'd like a blank version.

Hi, yes the 6" one would be perfect - just to confirm this is this the one with the D30 layer in it? I will order on the website and add a note, thanks
-
yep that's the one, order all received my end so will get one en route ASAP once they are buttoned (sewn) up!
-
I can imagine these being very popular on the county circuit, so many are too fussy to wear an arm guard. As soon as a few guys start wearing these everyone will want one, get a bulk order ready to go on April!

anyone else noticed Mark Chapman of New Zealand has made a similar version, that a few are wearing in the tests
-
Yeh Had it pointed out to me by Perkins as I hadn’t noticed it before until then, he seems to be using a foam plus rigid plastic covering that Aura seem to have latched onto as well now.
-
They definitely seem to be becoming more popular on the telly Tom.
I used mine for the first time on Saturday and found it really comfortable. Didnt actually have any use for its major features, 1 it was only one degree so struggled to get a proper sweat on and 2 didnt get hit. Having hit myself with a mallet with it on though I have no doubts the protection would be there should it be called on.
-
Haha yeah its a bit nippy out today to say the least. Good to see others going about it in a different method though by using a rigid outer layer but the route I've opted for hopefully means that it doesnt hurt if you do use it to mop your brow!
-
Just received my 6" unbranded armguard from Ayrtek cricket - really happy with the purchase, very comfortable, lightweight and not bulky at all with ideal protection. Would thoroughly recommend everyone has one of these in there kit-bag! :D
-
Great to hear you’re happy with it, I stuck up a short video and some additional info last night on the social media channels for those interested.
The unbranded ones have sold out again now but I’ll hopefully have some more shortly.
-
Are you getting any more 4” ones in?
-
I can do if there a demand for the stubby ones?
If anyone else wants a 4 inch one shout and I’ll do another batch run.
-
I've been trying it out at nets. It's really comfortable. My only comment is that you could make a longer version. It really only covers my lower wrist (I have long arms). I am wearing it below a smallish elbow guard that protects the rest of the forearm.
Not that I ever get hit there. Place I get hit is on the inside right thigh just above knee and below the thigh guard normally from the bowling machine when aimed at leg stump. Are you planning to introduce some kind of leg guard in this material? Maybe the new Stretton Fox range will cover this if it ever materialises...
-
George has the thigh pad area pretty well covered with his products, they could be made longer yes in theory but using a different module and having a longer sweatband manufactured.
-

I thought the same thing, one of these modules as the entire thigh guard, really light, flexible and unobtrusive.
-
They use them in motorobike suits and in cycling to help reduce the impacts so don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t work as a thigh pad.
-
The thigh pad is a great idea, in particular the inner thigh area. I use Aero P2 which are great overall, but i often find myself having to push/ adjust the inner thigh pad area around to protect my inner thigh otherwise it is exposed. I can never understand why most thigh pads on the market only seem to protect the front area of the thigh. This is fine if you are squared up and get hit (which is very rarely unless pulling and it keeps low). Most players are side on in there stance and the inner thigh is obviously the most vulnerable area. I think an extra inner thigh pad that is lightweight with D30 protection would be really popular.
-
Surely it would just be the same as the Padman shorts that a lot of people use? Maybe manufacture the D30 inserts for Padman shorts?
-
There’s lots of different modules that D3O produce that could pontetisllg be used but as @Wozaboxa says they’d be inserted into a padman short type of figment.
I’m not one or try and reinvent the wheel as I think between Aero and Foxy they have done a great job in offering solutions to thigh protection.

-
Possibilities are endless with that stuff, wonder if we'll ever see a move away from traditional pads and have something that wraps around the legs but fully flexible? Like a compression leggings with all the padding needs? You'd probably end up looking like RoboCop!
-
I obviously play too low level cause i dont really need thigh pads, doesnt hurt that much. Although if you released the above stitched into a onesie under layer ive played with a few that would buy it. Just to field in ....
-
I get hit all the time on the inner thigh....these bats need to be wider i tells ya
-
Yeah totally agree. The shorts don't really work in my case because the padding doesn't reach down as far as the knee. I think you need something that straps onto the right part of the leg. No problems with it sliding down as in my case it would be right above the regular batting pads.
At the moment I have been experimenting with a defrosted medication ice pack that straps round the leg. Seems to work fine, but I haven't been hit on it yet.
-
... And I also play at a lower level. Only need it when the bola machine is firing quick stuff around leg. Got badly bruised from this in the summer.
-
Yes could be an issue 😂. Maybe I should replace the ice pack with a piece of old thigh pad, but it won't be very flexible..
-
4 inch and 6 inch unbranded models now in stock if anyone if after one 👍
