Hi everyone,
Not sure where to start as I appreciate everything went very quiet over the last 2 years. There's been a run-in with health, as well as a second project taking up a lot of time. To everyone who's been in touch, thank you ever so much for your kind patience. I sincerely hope that this post should start to get some excitement back in the camp!
I've not mentioned this anywhere officially yet, the first news is on the CBF because you are all brilliant and when the business first started years ago, likewise, it started here!
------
After 4 years of development, thinking it was ready, then realising it wasn't, false starts etc... It's now ready for the 2020 season.
Within the next 3 months, Stretton Fox is releasing on a global scale to retailers in all cricket continents, the first-ever fully mouldable thigh pads.
10mm thick, ambidextrous, and the party piece is a clever feature allowing anyone anywhere to mould them directly to their body. Big or small, everyone gets a close and comfortable fit from an "of the shelf" range of armour. Pricing will also be the same as regular retail thigh pads rather than the slightly prohibitive bespoke cost of having them made individually.
- There will be 3 sizes of thigh pad sets, fitting from 4'10'' up to 6'3''
- Chest guards
- Armguards
- Keeper/fielding pads
Over the next month, I'll be releasing photos and more information on this range. It's wonderful to be back!
Very best regards to you all,
George
-
Looking forward to seeing the keeping pads and thigh guard!
-
George, Yay!
-
This sounds amazing George! Put me down for one of each, I'm sold!! :D
Thanks for the update, can't wait to see a genuinely innovative product coming to market.
-
Come on @Buzz - you must be all over this like Trump on a Ukranian!!
-
You can never have too much body armour @FattusCattus
-
Lovely to hear all is well George
Very exciting news look forward to seeing what you have been busy making
Ps they missed a trick in the den 😊
-
And my wish list for the 2020 season has grown again!
-
Same. I was looking at a chest guard for practicing mainly but OTS ones are all so bulky. So these sound spot on, as do the thigh guards. Use P2's at present, which are fine but they are pretty bulky.
-
Great news on all fronts George; looking to replace my somewhat ancient H4L thigh guards, and this seems like it could be just the thing. Excited to see the photographs when ready.
-
Excellent news George! really excited to see what you have come up with.
-
Great to see your back George and look forward to seeing the new designs. Must say its great to see one of the sponsored brands actually share something new with the forum
-
Thanks everyone! Over the moon to finally be in a position to get a proper retail range out.
I'll see what sort of sneak peeks can be grabbed over the next week!
-
awesome news! have used my bespoke thigh pad combo for the past 12 months and honestly its amazing! has also drawn alot of questions from various people...ill definitely be adding some of the new range to my personal wish list :D
-
Actually, here's a question for everyone...
Over 500 pros use the kit, in the past we've had "spot the fox" which will hopefully continue ;)
I'm in discussions with a lot of teams and specific individuals about what they are legally allowed to say on social media to drum up friction for the brand. It tends to vary depending on the main sponsor etc...
However, I need to create a # for social media. Something a bit more clever than just #strettonfox (bit boring!)
Question to everyone, what would be a good # for anyone to use to state that they are part of the SF family? As I'm planning a bit of a landslide :)
Winning # might have to get a full set of guards as a prize :)
Love this forum! wish my extended family was this much fun to speak with!

Hey George,
Sorry to derail the thread slightly and not offer a # in a post :D
Will you still be offering a custom range alongside this range?
-
Good question, the last few years have been incredibly difficult to manage without letting people down with huge leadtimes. Going forward we will look at how players can go custom in terms of graphics but this ideally will be a "retro-fit" service so you can apply to these pads.
-
Wow! this is quite an overwhelming amount of #'s ok I'll start to shortlist ;)

I think this is the first time i've kind of been told no but ended up being more excited :)
Like a kid at Christmas - I can't wait to hear more news.

Right, it's time to be annoying and start to post some teaser pics!
First social media pic has gone online, soon to be followed by the winning #!

The intention is every player using the guards will post this so we can create a bit of a social media wave. This will be from top internationals to little dudes, everyone on the same playing field. Proper family!
Right then, who's going to win guys? and any strong objections & suggestions this is your moment to shine :)

@StrettonFox Sports
Sorry for another question and I might be jumping the gun ahaha (It's just the excitement)
Will the new range be coming with towelled straps? If not, can we put some orders in advance please if you would happen to have the time to do them :D
-
Hey guys!
Yes, towelling straps as standard, and some extremely posh packaging!
There should be some more info on the pads being released in the next 24 hours on how they work and how they are different to any other pads. I'm also very very excited!! :)
-
I'm very excited about this!! have an arm guard and love it, can't wait for the next release
-
@StrettonFox Sports Any further news on the launch of the new range?

Who's the winner? What happened to the prize?
-
InternationalTraining I believe you were the first to say "#Foxup" ?
This is going to be the brand # for social media. There may be others but it's sharp and should work a treat! It's been mentioned a few times on this thread so if anyone has objections please shout, but nicely please we're all family here!
OK status update, it's the 18th November, time is flying, samples took (surprise) a wee bit longer than we thought to get right but are now sorted and signed off ready to go. We are expecting our salesman samples late this month so photos will shortly follow.
I can't wait to post a video on how they work and why they are so different. Please bear with us it's happening but actual stuff I can publish needs a few weeks!
Thanks again everyone, speak soon!
George
-
Will there be an Aero Strippers-type contraption available? I find mine a bit annoying, so am looking for alternatives.
-
InternationalTraining I believe you were the first to say "#Foxup" ?
...
George
Oh yes. :)
-
@StrettonFox Sports
Please excuse my excitement George but I had my first winter net on saturday and my Aero's are looking a bit sorry for themselves.
Am i going to be able to ask Santa to #FoxUp for me this year?
-
+1 for wanting to #FoxUp for Christmas.
-
Hey everyone, guess what! They've arrived! and they look awesome!
Salesman samples are in and approved for production. It does mean we will be hitting the season later than most regular brands, so I wanted to give you all a really good heads up on the product.
I'll post a few teaser pics on Instagram and Facebook but will shoot a video giving more of a detailed look at the pads over the next few days.
In a nutshell, these will be 11mm, ambidextrous, mould at home thigh pads. Allowing EVERYONE to get an absolutely perfect-fitting set of pads from an off the shelf product.
Thanks for your patience everyone, been juggling a few things but it's coming together nicely!

Will the other products be launched early next year. Or justthe thigh pads?
-
Good question! Launch is with thigh pads (3 sizes ranging from 4'10'' to 6'5'' ambidextrous) chest guards, arm guards and super thin fielding/keeping pads.
There will then be a pipeline of product scheduled from luggage/carry goods to full kit and a lot more. A lot of which is already underway. Most of which will be shown here on CBF first (because you all rock!). But every single item is unique and very, very different to other existing products.
But to start with, it's all about the thigh pads :)
-
Do you have an idea on when they will be available to purchase George?
-
Good question!
We're arriving late to the 2020 season so it's going to be after Feb, but I'm going to put as much info about the guards out there so everyone interested can see exactly what they are looking at.
-
No doubt I'll be buying them regardless :D They sound great and have wanted to upgrade the Aero's since last season.
-
very interested in these - looking to replace my Aero P2s! Is it possible to get a rough ball park on pricing?
-
Excited to see the wk/fielding pads, been holding off buying some other for ages. Do we know a date yet?

F*cking Hell BB8 - you still alive?
-
Back playing this season and taken on captaincy duties! Given up the football.
-
Hi George,
Just wanted to double check if we we're still on track for these before I put a post in Items Wanted section :)
Hope you're well.
-
Any update on this @StrettonFox Sports
I've held off buying thigh guards for the season in anticipation of these, but with the season now fast approaching do you have an official release date?
-

Wow, they look rather tasty. I think a new set of thigh pads is in order for me!!
-
@Buzz are these yours ore are these available now then? I assume they are from some social media platform but I’m afraid I’m a dinosaur and barely use Facebook let alone anything else
-
I got send some pictures by George, these are a couple of them.
George will post the rest when he gets a moment. These aren't available for purchase as yet...
-
Good god. I am excited and with George saying sizes start from 4ft 10 then I'll be able to get some that fit my mini legs :D :D :D :D
-
Does anyone have any idea how much these might cost?? Though his original post where we all tried to guess a # said something about circa £20-£25??
-
Price will be about £50, the same as the Aero p1s
-
Just getting in before the rush - Does anyone have any sets of the thinner, plain straps - I might want to change it up once I receive my retail set :)
-

e.g.

-
GN Academy thigh set is around £22
-
Most companies offer thigh pad sets around this price. Maybe not as good as the Aero's, but you can definitely get them.
-
Can you let me know where I can get a thigh pad set for £20-£25 please? ;) :D
Pretty sure I paid about that for some SS ones... they're half the price of Aeros for a reason!
-
Has anyone heard any update on these?
-
There’s something on cook and Matthews instagram
-
Does anyone have a link?
-
April apparently.
hope i'll be able to pick up some straps when they are released.
-
Cant wait to get a set, the 15 yr old Obo's are in need of an upgrade

Hey guys,
Ok so this year has been a bit unusual, however, we're ready!
I thought I'd start with a promo video...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I52yfW7QQ4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I52yfW7QQ4)
I'm only telling people here before the range comes out :)
Let me know what you think!
Take care all,
George
-
Love them George, what a fantastic idea with the heat!
-
Some quick points:
- arm, chest, inner & outer thigh will be available, 3 sizes fitting from about 4'10'' to over 6' tall
- Cost (approx) will be around £60 for a set of thigh pads
- These are retail "off the shelf" and not bespoke, so one design, however, they look wicked!
- These will be in shops throughout the UK & International.
- Production is done, they're on their way to all the different places
Hope this helps :)
-
George,
They look amazing!
Can I just ask (probably a silly question) how do you heat the pads to 80 degrees? to then mould them afterwards.
-
Of course! sorry!
Pop them in the oven :)

Cool brilliant..... the Mrs is going to give me some weird looks I am sure.
-
Just take my money now
Been intently waiting for the release of these, be rude not to treat myself to a little lockdown gift
Where are we going to be able to purchase these from soonest?
-
I'm working with a really good distributor for the UK, let me find out accurate details so I don't mislead anyone! Any more than the long wait already :)
-
Excellent News George, congratulations on getting it all sorted and wishing you the best of luck with the launch :D
Was it/is it still thigh pads first with the rest of the range (In particular the fielding/keeping pads) to follow?
-
Yes, crikey I'm being rubbish, there are also fielding/keeping full-length shin&knee guards in this launch!
-
They look great as expected George, really fantastic product! Can't wait to get some purchased once they hit the shops.
Congratulations, seems like it's been a lot of hard work but completely worth it.

-

-
Seen these in the flesh. They are very strong
Haven’t moulded them yet - be good to see how that works. As I’m sure that’s the key to many people purchase decisions
Exciting product
-
These look amazing! Reminds me slightly of the old mouldable gumshields, boil and bite!
I'll be ordering a pair for sure!
-
Look great and a refreshing innovation on the heated moulding. Only observation from the video is there seems to be less protection on the bottom of the thigh pad. Or is it just the youtube video where a smaller size is shown for the dummy?
-
Our old overseas is a fan - he works at GCCC, apparently tried to get an oven installed so they could demo the molding.
-

Demo the moulding?
Surely you'd mould them in store (for an extra fee) if you went to the effort of installing an oven!

Probably Todd wanted better catering facilities as well to be fair. They do review videos, so probably molding a set as a review for their social channels.

I'll second that

I'll 3rd that. My Aero P2s have more holes in them for an excuse to drive to Durham to see the family.

-
And unless I've read/interpreted it wrong, is that price for the thigh pad set up?
yes, that’s for the thigh pad. I’ll logged in tomorrow and confirm the rest but from memory wk leg guards were £75, chest pad 30ish, arm guard 20 I think
-
Any updates on this yet regarding release date/availability?
-
Hi George, @StrettonFox Sports
I saw on your social media that you expect these to be in shops in July. Can't wait it's going to be superb!
Do you know when a list of retailers/stockists will be available please?
-
Pretty sure our very own Rob @Six Sixes Cricket is going to stock them

Hey everyone! I hope you are all well and safe.
Very excited as the bulk delivery has landed in the UK! It's all finally happening!
The distributors are going to have a busy week getting orders prepared for sending out to chosen UK stockists, also preparing a photo shoot/video session with some pros for PR purposes. I'm going to be filming some stuff as well on how to use etc..
This is where the fun starts!

Thigh pad sets
Outer thigh pads
Chestys
Arm guards
Keeper/ Fielding
-
Hi everyone,
MASSIVE thank you for your patience! OK we’re off!!
Production has arrived in the UK and already on the way to selected retailers.
A lot of you have kept in touch by email, but I want the CBF to have the chance to get hold of guards first, you've always been awesome! This is a special link i’ve requested from the distributers, on Monday they will start to reach out and make sure you are all sorted...
http://eepurl.com/g81Q3L (http://eepurl.com/g81Q3L)
This is going to be a lot of fun, there's so much planned! photographs, pro player vids, and pictures, there’s going to be a lot of noise on social media, this is going to be an awesome month!
SO, to confirm, click this link, enter your email & name, and we’ll do the rest. There is no obligation to buy if you don’t want, but i’d love you all to be part of this.
Also please feel free to share this link with people who would be interested.
Take care everyone, look after yourselves, let's hope we can get some cricket soon.
Speak soon, stay in touch!
With very best regards,
George

Would we use this link if we have already expressed interest with Rob at 6 sixes??

Very good question! A standard oven can take the keeper pads at an angle :) please don't BBQ them!

Got my thigh guard set yesterday, thanks for the great service @Six Sixes Cricket !
First impressions, the quality of them is unbelievable, the actual thigh guard and straps are really unmatched at that price point. It was quite interesting having to put them in the oven, I was sure they were going to end up in flames but 10 minutes at 80c and they were ready to be moulded. The moulding process was fairly easy, but it did take a few goes to get them to the right position, I am still fiddling with them to get it perfect. Also worth noting the instructions are hidden on the box itself, I was looking through the manual for ages trying to figure out what to do!
First impressions was that the thigh guard was huge. I am 6'3 so right at the top of the large sizing, and they feel pretty big to me. The main thigh guard wraps all the way around, which is way more than my p2's or moonwalkr's did. This will give you a lot more protection, but might be overkill for your average cricketer imo.
I used them in the nets last night and they felt good if a little cumbersome with how large they are. It might be they need some more moudling so they fit more snug or maybe I need a smaller size. However, having already used them and taken the tags off I won't be able to return them.
All in all - very happy with the quality of them, they look stunning and the protection seems great having taken a mallet to them :D Probably worth being wary of sizing and sizing down, especially if you don't feel you need your whole thigh to be protected.
I'll put some photos up in a bit so you can see what they look on
-
I agree with the sizing point. Mine arrived yesterday, again great service from Rob at Six Sixes, but I believe they are a little oversized for me. I’m 6’2” and ordered the recommended Large and after putting them against me, and comparing them to my Ton combo thigh pads, wouldn’t be comfortable wearing them that big especially the inner thigh guard. I’ve returned them and going a size down for the medium instead.
-
I'm 6'3 and got the large - they're definitely bigger than the Aero p1 set I have.
The quality is fantastic - I've taken the mallet to them and was very impressed. I've had a bit of trouble getting the inner guard to mould the way I'm after, but that is definitely down to me - maybe needs to be in the middle of the oven rather than a rack up from the outer pad.

A quick fitting video to help, let me know your thoughts!
-
Really good video! I gave mine a second go this morning and am now delighted with the feel. Probably going straight into the kit bag after I've had a net with them to make sure they're perfect, but absolutely loving the feel and fit.
-
That's awesome!
It's so exciting to see :) feels really weird now they're finally out there!

In the video you suggest moulding the pads a bit more than needed (since they revert to a looser fit)... but how can this be done while we still have them on? Or is it, take them out of oven, strap on leg to get general shape, then take off and squeeze them extra tight ??
-
Yes!
If moulding onto the leg feels it needs a bit more, then afterwards squeeze them a bit more!
-
Has anybody who is 5’9/10 Ordered a pair yet? How have you found the sizing? Did you go for the medium one?
-
The protection is great with these guards, but I would suggest everyone size down. I'm 5'8" and have a small set which are fine, but would prefer them marginally (2cm) smaller in height. As I'm not one for hip protection.
-
Is anyone volunteering to demonstrate (with pics) why the sizes are too large ? Is it because they run all the way down to the side of the knee?
-
Used mine for the first time in a T20 tonight. Absolutely fantastic!
-
Used mine in a practice match last Saturday. They are the large size and worked well. Oddly the much smaller inner thigh pad felt a bit awkward. I have rebaked it in the oven and we'll see how it goes tomorrow at T20. Part of the issue is that without changing rooms it's quite difficult to put on thigh pads without dropping your trousers in public.
-
Used mine for the first time last night. Scored 25 from 19 so not a lengthy stay but thigh pad was awesome. Tight fit and pretty much forgot about it being there. Which hasnt been the case for previous thigh pads. Also big thanks to @Six Sixes Cricket for very quick and helpful service.
As a sizing reference Im 6ft and fairly stocky and the medium is a good fit for me, certainly wouldnt go any bigger.

I had this with mine - i lined up the loop for the waist strap to be more on my right hip rather than central on the leg (inner thigh obviously) and this helped (I originally had it almost wrapping around the inside of my thigh) - also have taken to overbending them so that they almost clip on to my legs. Had a net with the new setup on tuesday and barely noticed they were there despite having some initial concerns about size.

Hey guys how are you all! Over the moon to hear you're getting on well with the latest incarnations!
Sizing does seem to be a big question here so I'm going to post a video showing how I wear my size 3's at 5'10. I believe it's all about the angle but am loving this feedback and thoughts, you're flippin' brilliant as usual!!
Thank you again and take care!
George

Leaving us waiting anxiously for said video @StrettonFox Sports ;)
-
Sorry!!! :)
OK video is coming out this week, I needed a dodgy old pad for a comparison! all good!
-
Who else has these?
What is your height and what size did you go for?
-
Very pleased with mine, I'm 6'3 and went for the medium.
Edit as that wasn't actually that helpful - found the outer to be way too big on the large, only a little on height but massive on width. I'm a slim-ish build, about 80kg, ymmv. Think I would have gone for a size large inner but medium outer given the chance, the medium outer is spot on for me (I don't want hip coverage) but wouldn't want the inner any smaller.
-

Wow mate, 6'3 and medium, they don't do an extra small.
I am looking forward to seeing what George says in the video about sizing.
-
I'm 6'1" and had to reorder a medium after originally going large. The medium is perfect for me and, having baked for ten minutes in a pre heated oven, they've come out a treat. Moulded and couldn't be happier.
Great product George @StrettonFox Sports and great service from Rob @Six Sixes Cricket

Same for me, I’m 6’2” slim build and returned my large as both outer, and especially inner, came up too big.
I have now baked my mediums and they are perfect.
-
Even more interested in the videos now - seems like George will reveal the secret to correctly moulding them so they don’t appear too large. Can’t wait.
-
I am 6'1" and have also gone for the medium. The length is fine but it is the width of the pads that come up big on me.
I am happy with the outer guard which seems to have shaped well and stays in place whilst batting. The inner guard is causing me issues though. I netted in then last night and every single ball it was sliding down my leg and i had to reposition it between balls. Size wise it seems to wide to sit comfortably on my leg

Have a look and see what you think, quite a bit of background noise but hopefully this helps!
Would love to hear feedback and I can very happily shoot again covering info that may have been missed out!
Very best,

Looks like you moulded them without heat.. is the oven actually needed?

Thanks George! I think a guide on the inner thigh would be useful also if possible? I haven't quite found a way yet to sit it somewhere that doesn't move around/get in the way whilst running so some guidance would be great.
Also I find that the straps slip around the edge of the guards sometimes when I'm playing and change the fit/position (if that makes sense) - I have them done as tightly as I can. Any suggestions on this?
Love the product by the way, when I get them right they will be perfect!
-
Likewise, some help with the inner pad would be good. The outer pad is perfect and keeps its shape but the inner pad keeps getting too flat and is difficult to shape to the thigh comfortably. The velcro is the strongest I have ever seen💪
-
Thanks guys, great feedback, ok i'll do a re-shoot with the large size 3 inner and outer. This forums wicked! as usual!
-
I’m sorely tempted by a set of these but having just reworked mine (from 2013) for the first time in a few years and they are staying in place much better so struggling to justify - have there been any significant changes in shape or materials George?
-
Weirdly for me the inner was a doddle (previous custom made inner was a struggle)
My outer thigh did expand back quite a bit so will need to re mould. Probably ran too much which didn’t help!
-

Thanks for the question!, in terms of materials used and how they are made, it's very different, but the protection levels are similar so still awesome :)
I'd honestly say if you're comfy with your current pads then keep them, possibly look to get new straps to tighten up everything but if they fit well and you're safe, then that's the main mission accomplished!
-
I considered the same. The main benifit seems to be that they’re a bit thinner. However I guess the launching of these has meant the second hand value of the older style will have taken a bit of a hit so I’ll probably stick with them for now.
-
Has anyone else found their new Strettons "loosen"?
I got mine yesterday, baked and moulded them and left them untouched over night.
They seem to have straightened out a bit though.
Anyone else or just me?

Mine have. I left them fro 24 hours with the staps holding them in place essentially bend into a cylinder but they have since straightened. The outer thigh pad stays in place even if it isn't as snug as I would like but the inner thigh pad is a problem
-
I think this is why George suggested bending them past what is required, but seems like people already tried this

I followed George's instructions and bent them a fair way past where they needed to be, knowing they would loosen up.

I left them wrapped in the straps overnight and they opened up a bit as expected, but fitted very well.
As of today however, having been stored flat and unused however they seem to be flattening themselves out

Yes I found the same. But it is fine if you just strap it on fairly tightly. I've used for 3 or 4 games now and I don't notice I'm wearing them now.

Yes Ive found this aswell. Ive resorted to binding very tightly With the straps between innings. Seems to help but I do wonder if it will have a detrimental effect on the elasticity of the straps after a period. @StrettonFox Sports any ideas?

Just in case anyone else is as skinny as me - I've now found a way to secure these tightly so they don't move!
One of the short straps around the waist, the long one double wrapping the bottom of the outer thigh pad!

Nice, might give that a try next time.
I've been strapping over the edges and fixing onto the skin side of the pad which has worked well too - Had about 70 mins batting time out in the middle yesterday and they didn't move or feel uncomfortable.

I really envy you, if the SMALL strap goes around your waist !!
-
I really envy you, if the SMALL strap goes around your waist !!
Being a short (No Swearing Please) helps!!
I think it was why I was struggling in the first place - I wasn't stretching/generating enough tension in the straps wearing them in an orthodox fashion due to my size!
-
I decided to go to the extreme and see what happens. Rolled the thigh guard up like a mat, and wrapped it up with all the straps I had. This is what it currently looks like:

So this worked out nicely. Pads slowly opened up over two days - were still too tight but I fit them on my leg and since then they’ve kept their shape. They do tend to (very slowly) Widen out and so am wondering if they’ll need a re-bake every few months.. let’s see.

Does anybody know if the strap lengths are different depending what size you have or are they all the same? So a small size’s straps are the same as a medium etc
-
Anyone know the best way to wash these? Left them in a kit bag next to a damp bat cover and went on holiday for 2 weeks. Now, let's just say they can do with a freshen up. Any suggestions? (buying a new pair at that price is not going to happen 😂😂)

You could chuck the originals in the machine. Not sure if these are different

Thanks may try that...

ive still got the same thigh pads from when they first came out... absolutely top class
