Title: Cricket shoes for Australia
Post by: Drupy01 on September 29, 2019, 05:59:39 PM
Hi guys,

I need a little bit of advice, I'm going to Australia this winter and the team I'm playing for play on turf and artificial wickets.

I'm taking my spikes with me but what boots would be good for the artificial wickets. I'll be opening the bowling as well.

SL22 boosts look quite tasty for 2020 👍

If you like the fit of the boots you have, would conversion spikes be an option?

I've only played on artificial wickets, and pretty much any comfortable sandshoe will do the job here.  Perhaps some local advice from the club you're going to might be best?

If you’re a batsman and/or only bowl spin you could try using a rubber for both astro and turf. I’ve even used rubber for fast bowling on turf and have had no issues (but I am more medium fast than fast medium so usage may vary). I’ve also heard the Payntr mk2 work well too. They have rubber and metal spikes on the bottom so I guess you could just pop the spikes out when you play on astro and it should still work well enough

The soles on the payntrs spikes are a hard plastic, so i wouldn't recommend those on astro

If you are looking for a one time economical option then you could go with https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/gunn-moore-octane-shoe-uk-11-us-12/6000191922727 (https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/gunn-moore-octane-shoe-uk-11-us-12/6000191922727)

I found them useful on our artificial turf in Canada, more of a bowling shoe than batting but works equally good. I believe you will find them somewhere in the UK market as well.
