Hi guys, I wanted see if you guys experienced the same as my experience with laver and wood for the last month and a half. I got in touch with James regarding a custom classic profile with bigger edge with some specifications that suits my needs. It was all paid for on the September 3rd, 2019. I was told twice that my bat will be out for courier and I requested multiple time ms to send some pictures when it is ready to send. However, I have not got any communication from their end that it is getting prepared. Every time I reach out to them enquiring about the bat and I after two three emails I get get a generic response that it is scheduled for courier on some date. But then again, no response when it comes close to that date. Finally, I told them if it is too tricky to make the bat I provided specifics for please send one of the bats in the Jims Friday special, reimburse for the difference a so paid a lot more that the Friday special for the reserve version. I just want to make sure that this is a one off experience but not a common them that overseas customers experience . I ordered from Canada and I feel it is kind of unacceptable even six weeks after you have paid but you no confirmation that the bat is getting made or can be made or anything of this sort.

This is unusual, L and W are usually excellent with customers.

James is pretty good at communication. I would call them up if I were you and hear out the issue.
-
I found them brilliant to deal with too, sounds strange.

I need to mention that, a few weeks ago james mentioned that he tried to make the bat with the specification but was not able to make it to the desired weight. So he will try again. However, that was still still a few weeks ago. I will take this as a one off experience.

Now I am curious to know what were your specs.. :)
-
40mm edges, 80mm spine, 2lb7ozs

And no concaving
-
Lol. Almost there! Well I asked for 40 mm edges, 67 mm spine in the classic shape but big edges and therefore no cconcaving.
-
But I allowed for weight to be max 2 lb 11 oz
-
That's an ambitious profile for that weight
-
Laver and wood were excellent and made me a bat to the same specs.
It did weigh 3lb 6oz mind........

Did they mention what was the final weight of this bat they made.

No they did not mention that.

With those kind of specs, you'll need some sort of compromise most likely. It sounds like a Trott profile on steroids, and we all know that regular Trott profiles don't come light very often! 40mm edges and 67mm spine is achievable in 2.10 if you go for a different profile, the point of a classic profile is to keep the meat in the middle 1.5-2 inch width of the bat throughout the blade, while maintaining a thin edge as you shouldn't need those to be thick for hitting the ball.
That being said, I'd be surprised if James attempted to make something he knew was impossible, so maybe he does have a cleft that light...
