Title: Kookaburra 2020
Post by: Tom on October 18, 2019, 10:36:35 AM
Here's the Kookaburra range for 2020 which should be launching on retailers soon (if not today). Also a Concept 20 bat to come.

I like the new ranges, difficult so see what the bat profiles will be like but they haven't changed a lot from last season.

shame they haven't re-released a retro range, and hopefully the keeping gear is blue.

Aren’t those 4 bat profiles exactly the same?? Be a good way of cutting costs... just pick a sticker

Another brand on the Poron XRD wagon
Is it similar to the D** products? Is there really that much difference?
I stupidly bought some new Kook pads at the start of the season and assumed they would be much lighter than my 20 years old ones from Newbery......  Actually about 20g difference ........
Seems the hugher levels of protection seems to come with additional weight.....  Oh well might get rid of a few pounds over the season when running i guess!

Similar but Poron can be bought on a roll rather than in sheets or as individual bespoke components and D3O are quite selective about who they work with (Obv I'm duty bought to say that as one of their partner brands and the only one in the cricket market :D)

Pad technology hasnt really changed that much as no one really gets injured by getting hit on them. The ones I designed back at Uni were aimed at the lightweight market to compete with the OBO (pre-dating their brand name change to Aero) P1;s and the Morrant Ultralight models. From memory they came in at about 625g each.

D3O® is now available off the shelf but expensive in compassion to other protection foams.

Yes, the top of the handle is oversized, no additional weight or tape added

They aren’t bad, would have to try a pair on but at least they have gone with a different colour.

The Aussie versions are always nicer for some reason

if you send me your mobile no. I can WhatsApp the actual green version, as they are the same other than the cuff length

What on earth is going on with that grip. At full 'res' it doesn't begin to come close to the shoulder and then...what's going on underneath?

I've got a Concept 20 bat and it's superb.

It's pretty much the same profile as my GM Neon, same handle and blade length but extends a bit more into the toe and has a bit more of a fuller profile.

For a 2.9 bat the thing looks huge, although when I measured the width it was 105mm wide. Even more shocking was the fact my neon was 103mm!

Both great bats, the Kook will eventually become my Neon's successor I think.

The handle on the Kook feels a lot fuller than their handles of the past few years and had a pleasant oval shape on the bottom hand. The silicone grip feels spongy, very grippy and works well. The knob on the end (apart from me) is just an enlarged version of a standard handle end and didn't affect pickup but does feel nice when you're giving it the long handle treatment

Really!! As they are CNC machined this would be a massive error. I’m really fussy about that widths as it’s about the only thing I’m really fussy on and every GM Iv had (been 12 in past 4 seasons) have all been spot on 108mm and that’s using callipers to measure

The Bushfire bats are back up eBay. The username has some feedback, although the legitimacy will always be questionable.

So maybe Peter Siddle just doesn't take the tags off his shirts???

I do fancy that Lara MRF but won't pay with that much hard - earned. Could probably verify it by comparing with stills from the match highlights

Kookaburra seem to be making a lot more full profile bats or with minimal concaving on them.
