My Aussie mate bought a custom made Callen cricket bat two weeks ago and received it yesterday. Anybody got 5 minutes to upload the pictures if I email them the pictures?
The first bat is the top of the range blade and the second was $100 and offered as a tester bat,it has a large butterfly stain on it but goes off the mallet really well.

Callen bats are they still going have not seen one for around 15 years. The company was itnot set up by Ian callen ex Aussie first class cricketer I am sure he brought a load over when he pro'd in the lancashire league

Yeah e-mail them to me at yabby21@hotmail.co.uk

Have emailed all pictures to Stewie so they should be up soon. Yeah they are made by Ian Callen. He set up this eco-friendly willow growing site 10 years ago and now he is starting to get some good clefts through.

Buzz did you get the prolfile pic of the top of the range bat? It was the first pic I sent

Not the biggest fan of the stickers but the top bat looks pretty decent, nice clean willow! Be interested to see how the stain plays - i've heard mixed reviews on their performance.
Would like to know more about the "socio-economic and environmental intitiative" with his willow......sounds like a good selling point perhaps??
-
yes - sorry - were so many pictures!!

hahaha I lived in Healesville for a while

You mind must sub-consciously draw you towards the willow.......your body is obviously a human willow dowser!
I am right in thinking that despite all the science that has gone into their research, site location, willow maintenance and planting - that their envrionment and climate means the willow produced is still deemed inferior to english willow?

Thanks mate

It is difficult to say Healesville is wine growing country near melbourne so the climate would be different there... I've not seen the willow in person so I wouldn't like to comment. I know Fattuscattus had a OZ willow bat so maybe he could shed some light. The 1st bat looks like a nice piece of willow though but the butterfly stain is consistent with a stoney area [Vineyard country]

Looks really nice. i think the stickers are really good actually! Niace and simple
-
Yup, I had a supposed Oz willow blade. The willow was very soft, and slightly darker than normal - but it did go a bit. Can't see it lasting that long though, as it cracked up quite quickly.

Hi, first time poster here from Australia. I deal in the Callen brand bats and found it interesting to come across this post while trying to expand my knowledge about bats in general. A guy i play with bought the Red Label Autograph bat, knocked in for a few hours and started to use it in the nets, he is not the sort of guy who is happy with a six to go just over the boundry , but the bigger the better. He was impressed with the rebound and how well the bat held up. I have used them for about 15 years or so and i can't go past them. Which is why i got around to dealing in them. All things said and done, they compare really well to most "brand" bats that are around the traps.

Anyone know who is selling Callen now in the UK ?
