Where is the ideal place to store your bats over the winter?
-
in the garage - I have mine left out so I can shadow bat lol They sometimes live in their bat covers and bags if its very cold
-
Would they not increase in weight in a garage?
-
I've got some of mine in the garage (it's dry in there so I'm not overly worried about weight gain) and some in bat sleeves in a wardrobe.
I've never had an issue storing them indoors. At the end of the season I'll remove the scuff sheet and give them an oil. Come the start of winter nets or the season when they'll be used again I'll put a new scuff sheet on and away I go.
As long as you don't store them in an airing cupboard or directly next to a radiator there's nothing wrong with storing them indoors :)

I keep my bats in the wardrobe.
-
Where the wife can't see them obviously!
-
Same place I store them in the summer - on the bat shelf.

You clearly don't have to hide your bats from the Mrs...! (And kids in my case!)

Nice, but my shelf (and that of many Cbf members) would have to be quite a bit bigger, and the Mrs would find out just how many I have which really wouldn’t be a good idea

Ha very true, I'm by no means a collector! Implemented a rule when I started making my own that if I wasn't at least occasionally going to use a bat then I had to have a really good reason for keeping it (Cor3 for example). With the Mrs, it does help that a couple of the ones on the shelf are hers, even if she doesn't play any more. It's the bike parts I really have to keep stashed away...

@edge - is that a Nemesis?

@edge - is that a Nemesis?
It is, a big one!
-
Does that mean it's a big heavy one?
-
Surely there needs to be a "in the Bat Cave" comment on this post ;)
-
Banished from the bedroom walk-in cupboard to the shed I'm afraid.
The good ladywife wanted to 'free up some space'.
They're in their sleeves, but in the damp atmosphere of a wooden shed, I imagine they'll put on a bit of weight over the winter.
Just like their owner. :D

Not really, from memory it's 2.10ish? Supposedly out of the special cupboard at GN.
-
Obviously...

In summers, I store them in the trunk of my car.
In winters, next to heating unit.

Looks like the entire team stores their bats with you.
-
I store all my kit at work, I’m lucky to have the 3rd & 4th floors of my office empty and as no one works there the heating is turned off so stays cool and allows me to shadow bat as well. As long as it’s somewhere cool and dry will be fine.
-
Obviously...
Is this why you buy and sell so many, you have to keep the collection down to numbers that will fit in the rack?
-
Sorry to resurrect a slightly older thread - I just wondered if anyone does find that their bats seem to take on abit of weight when being left in the garage?
I weighted a bat last night and did notice that it has gained a little bit of weight. Obviously the cold and damp weather we have had lately isnt helping. Never really come across this before.
-
@t2ylo is that an umbrella rack?
-
If you store them in the garage they will gain a little bit of weight but in my opinion that's better than storing them indoors where it could be too hot.
The weight will come off in the summer during those long innings in the sun.

Should they be in bat covers?

I keep al the bats in a padded bat cover (woodworm ones if that makes a difference) in the garage, is this a No No?
