Hi guys,
I bought this bat of Roco de Pixie, for £20. Its a 2lbs 10oz, Long Handle, Warsop Superior.
A lot of people were interested in the bat so I thought I would post updates as the bat got work done on it.
Stage 1
Received the bat today, first impression are good. Good pick up. Minimal Concaving.
I have emailed Warsop asking for a price for Re-Handle to short Handle. Repair to the toe. Little bit of weight taken off.
Haven't had a reply yet, but not in any rush.
Here are the pictures of the bat in its current state.

I will update this topic as I get news from Warsop and when I get it back.

jealous :( :(
-
Forgot to mention a couple of things.
- Thanks to Roco de Pixie for an awesome bargain!
- Thanks to Watsontotty for letting this bat go to a younger member
- Does anyone know how long warsop take to reply
-
warsop replied in a day to me :)
-
yup they replied to me in a day mate :)
-
glad it will be of use to you, I didnt need it so might as well flog, Did you enjoy the wrapping ;) got a new starter to wrap it up but think they went overboard.
-
haha, took me a while to say the least!
-
I hope that Warsop get back to you bud as this will be great once refurbed. Just hope they don't claim it's not one of theres. Give them a ring perhaps??

The bat is stamped and is genuine, So should not expect that to happen.

Not claiming it's not genuine mate not at all, but you know what some people go like :(
-
Is the stamping the red, Mar 2006 on the shoulders?
I emailed them at 10 to 4, so probably a bit late to expect a reply

The lady has Blackberry so it must not take long
-
Looks like you got a bargain. Excellent condition for that price.
You should get a fairly quick reply, although it depends what email you go to as i know they had a problem with their internet a while back.
Try warsopbat@googlemail.com if you get nothing back for a while or ring them as they're very helpful...
-
Warsop normaly reply to me within an hour, if not i just forward it to them and I get a reply within 15 mins.
-
I emailed it to mail@handmadebats
-
I forwarded my email onto warsopbat@googlemail
Another question. Does the Long handle actually make a difference? I measured it at about half an inch longer. and it feels no different in my hands
-
depends on your stance does it change it
-
I am 6'3 and can use SH, LH, or LB sized bats without any real change to stance!
LH bats are better for the 6 foot 2+ batter really?
-
i am 6ft exactly
-
How much do re-handles generally cost?
-
I think that rehandle cost around £30 depending on where you go.
But at 6 foot you're on the border line I reckon.
As procricket said, see if it alters your stance? If so, then could be worth rehandling the bat. But if its only 1cm or so, then it may not make any difference. :)
-
Ok, i had a look the the M&H website for a general idea and they charge £43!
The handle on my short handle is just under 12 inches and the Long handle in about 12 and a half inches
Overall length is short handle 85cm and long handle near enough 87cm
I got in my stance with my SH and then changed bats without moving and it doesn't feel too different
-
Pete I'm 6ft 2 and I use a SH, I've never really used a LH. I stand with the bat between my legs but does a LH really make that much a difference?
-
Had an email back, they want pictures to check the authenticity. So i sent them. but can't see the pictures properly on their blackberry. have included pictures of the handle sticker and stamp. They need to look at them on a computer
-
They have offered to cut the handle down to size rather than re-handling for £30
-
Right, had a final email with costs.
£30 to cut the handle down to SH length. Repair the toe damage and re-sticker.
+ £8.50 postage back to me
+ postage to get the bat to them probs around £6
total of £44.50 roughly.
Do you think it is worth it. Would be clearing me out until wages next month.
-
you would probs pay a fair amount for the refurb alone, so i would say yes
-
;) or sell it to me :)
-
Liam I'd trust Tony and his advice and whatever you feel comfortable with but yep right in the respect of cutting the handle down to size and you cant get the stickers from anywhere else
The Long handle will change the pickup but it depends on where you hold it. If you hold it in the same position as the SH the only thing you'll need to content with is the extra bit hanging out at the top
I hope that helps
-
Thanks Norb
-
I am holding it in the same position as a Short handle. Really don't have enough money to send it away.
Two more factors
- Do I really need a 2nd bat, I don't think I do. I love my Adidas
- don't think the profile is right for me
-
Prob not worth spending the money on then if ur not happy with it, perhaps pass it on to someone who feels they may use it and will pay the extra to refurb it?
-
Don't throw good money after bad!!!
In other words, you wont get the money back. So if you don't like it, sell it and let the next person do what they want with it, as Tom said!
The last thing you want to do is keep it if you wont use it....DOH!! >:(
-
If you feel its too much money overall then maybe you could try and fix the damage yourself if its bad enough. Nothing that a bit of glue and sandpaper cant fix 8)
But then if you're not going to use it, sell it!
-
i will double your money now for the bat and i will get it sorted
i will pay right now if you want rid bud
-
PM me you offer
-
Gunna sell it. Have turned down offers if 35 and 40. Wouldn't feel morally right
making a profit.
Gunna offer it to peplow first
-
although you turned me down but i think that is the right thing but if he does not want it my offer still stands bud
-
i'm gonna butt in- i'm 6'4 and 17 years old, perfect candidate? lol
-
Liam, spanner in the works coming!!!, will do the handle cut down and refurb for £20 inc postage back to you if you want to keep it and save some cash.
-
Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh - you little monkey!!
-
Thanks Mike, but slept on my decision as feel it was the right one. Waiting to hear from Sam, you can have 2nd dibs on it Ian
-
Mike, would you be able to move the middle a little higher by taking some wood from the bottom. Along with the handle cut and refurb
-
Maybe, but the profile might not support this without making it a lot lighter.
-
Hmmm, ok think i will stick with the selling decision and get some weight taken off my other bat
-
do i still get a look in???
with the bat??
-
waiting to hear from Sam, does your offer still stand?
-
not sure if Sam is online but i have text him anyway if not
-

Ok mate cheers.
-
now my warsop does it ping off a mallet liam
-
yes
-
any chance of a picture of the toe from the bottom mate
need to know weather to send it away or self help, maybe a lamitoe insert required
-
I would love this bat! It would be a little project.......
-
i will report back when it finished dependant on the damage i suspect i full refurb and a lamitoe if the toe is spit the whole way through.
re handled but no weight reduction
-
no need, you can see the damage, there is a split in the toe that i didn't notice until taking pics. it was repaired by warsop.
-
its 2lbs 7oz by the way.
-
2lb 7oz thought it was 2lb 10oz???
-
weighed it a minute ago to see, as it didn't feel 2lbs 10oz
but i suppose everyones scales are different
-
oh well will fit in with all my bats then around 2lb 8oz
liam i would just like a picture of the toe i can not see the damage mate just so i can make plans sorry bud can not see the damage
-
It used to be 2'10 until they had to cut 3oz off the toe! >:(
Only kidding Liam :D
-
first page, fourth picture down? I can get one if its not showing?
-
yes mate not a good picture any chance of a look at the bottom of the bat man can not wait to get started with this might try my first refurb.

-
lamitoe time i suspect not a problam with a kevlar top as well
-
Can't see why that would need a lamitoe, think you may agree when you get the bat
-
any other suggestions to the batmakers fixer around???
-
Liam just for that extra bit of protection
-
would dowel it myself with some wood glue to help the crack stay together...6mm dowel and some wood glue that expands upon drying sorted out the kook I had to mend last week. Cheap and easy fix to hold it together for a little longer
-
That's a bit pro!!!
-
that crack has been there for ages, was repaired by warsop at the time and has held ever since. it shouldnt need any more protection or fiddling with.
-
the lamitoe and kevlar or the dowel and sawdust may aid it a little but if slogger is correct perhaps just a toeguard then to keep the moisture out, how many previous owners on the forum has this bat had lol
-
slogger, roco de pixie, me, procricket few others!
-
perhaps a squad rotation system should be used....everyone contributes a bat to the "pool" and everyone rotates at the end of the month!
-
just sent a email off to warsop asking for a refurb and rehandle might get a carbo core chukked on it, re labelled up then it read to rock.
-
will be 30 to cut the handle down to SH, refurb and resticker. excluding postage to them and back to you
-

Pro...Liam has already emailed them and had the above back from them, may get a little funny if several people are wanting a refurb on the same bat:)
-
i will use it in the nets once completed will possibly get a lamitoe in it been a big saver of bats for me over time should check my Laver out and my Chase the toe has taken some belting
