Title: Splice glue & handle preparation recommendations / suggestions
Post by: Komdotkom on January 06, 2020, 07:02:56 AM
I've recently purchased a few more clefts but they don't have the handles glued into them at the moment. Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable glue? I got some clefts with handles from John at Red Ink last year and they had a funky amber coloured clear glue. I've seen people online just using PVA?

Titebond 2 has been working well for the few rehandles I've done.

I had a better look at these handles and they are not very well stuck together, I'm starting to think I should get some handles sent over with my latest purchase from Laver and Wood

Invest in decent handles, they are really important.

Don’t need go do anything with the cut. Just leave it as the cut surface. So you will do by using the chisel or sandpaper is to potentially make the fit worse, that’s of course unless you are a dab hand with a chisel.
