Post by: PieChucker2018 on January 22, 2020, 07:18:58 PM
Hi there guys!!

A lad I work with is looking into MRF or a CEAT bat, or anything from India, anyone know anywhere decent that have them in stock or the bust place to buy abroad?

Try Hanif at Eclipse... best port of call I'd say.

OnlineStockist have been great so far with softs I've ordered but I'd heard some conflicting reports about buying a bat from them.

Only problem with buying abroad is the after sales I suppose. Any reason he wouldn't consider a UK made bat?

I've been buying bats from India over last 2 years. There is some great stuff available at prices under half what you pay in UK for same bat. I have an MRF Grand edition that a relative got from a reputable sports shop in Delhi. Its a great bat, would totally recommend. And recently got a lovely BDM from Onlinestockist. There is chance they are fake (I don't think they are though) but if so they are very convincing indeed and they are still very high quality.

One issue is the handles which are usually narrow and round, so I had to build up oval shape with medical tape. It's fine now though.

The other issue is after sales service. When I rang MRF about a minor issue they said please post it back to India and we'll take a look. Not really practical... Similarly, Onlinestockist delivered a damaged duffle wheelie. Their response was 'it wasn't damaged when it left here, but we'll offer you a discount on next purchase.'

Will post pics in a minute...

Here are pics. Both grade 1 imo 8 grains. Bdm cost
half as much as the Mrf.

If buying online make sure you ask for pictures and weight of actual bat.

How much did those set you back?

Mrf just over £200. BDM around £130 (which is roughly the price that IJC had them at back in 2013). But I don't pay postage as they get delivered to a relative in New Delhi. Very convenient. I'm too stingy to pay out this kind of money myself, so I get my relatives to chip in and buy them as Christmas + birthday presents for me. Excellent arrangement as they don't have to choose a present and I get something I really want for Christmas... And the other half can't complain too much as it's not coming out of our bank account.

Not bad at all. Suspect the bank account excuse wouldn't hold much water in my household but maybe that's one to try this year 😅
