Thinking about getting one of these for 2 reasons, 1 I think it would be a bit of a novelty to spice up nets and 2 Collingwood uses a much heavier bat to practice with so it could be of some benefit also.
I was wondering if anyone had one, what the sizes and performance were like in the lower models ie EWNI or a low grade English?
Cheers

It will almost certainly lower your match batting rather than improve it, Who else apart from Collingwood for a short time does this? Use a net bat as close to your match bat as possible.
-
Cheers Mike, you never know it might help and lord knows I need it, but like I said for novelty value it would be worth it alone!

Cricket is a mental game....
What size of bat are you thinking of weight wise?
-
I some times have a few throw downs whilst holding two bats just before I go out to open as makes your match bat feel lighter for a little while as you get used to the wicket not for everyone but works for me

If you do order one, get one of the single cleft 2010 Fatso bats in kashmir, the ping on a couple of the reserved bats in the CJI shop were as good as any of the bats in there. A bargain for £80 and they were absolutely massive! Excellent pick up too.

I currently use a 2,9 bat, but I like the idea if a massive bat. Cheers for the info hit4six ill give them an email them tomoro, anyone got one?
-
Yeah I have one mate, actually I have the Sumo, and tried out the fatso as well, not much difference really, but the new single cleft bats are really really good. I would recommend them! :)

Quite a number of the Hampshire players do it, it's also common in baseball.
A few Durham boys do it too, their coach introduced the idea about June last year.

I have two of them - each one weighing in at a portly 3'4+
Would needs to be built like a shed to swing both bats around well!!!
-
Just get a Thruxton/Krakatoa XL from Mike ;)

Are you advocating non First Class players to do this Tom?
-
My Krakota XL only weighs 2.11. Fine for me but all you budding popeyes out there would need XXL perhaps ; ]

Not at all, my point was it's not just Collingwood doing it. A number of players on the 1st Class circuit have seen Colly doing it and have now implemented it into their training routines.

Getting a railway sleeper to swing into your kit bag is going to be a right pain tho! :)

And you could argue that Colly is currently Englands in form batsman

I have a stack of suitable bats here but I'm sure that it is just a small passing phase and getting used to your match bat will produce more match runs.
-
Cheers Mike but I have had my match bat for over a season now and I have not had a problem scoring runs with it. Feel free to PM me with the bats info and prices as I might be interested.
