As mentioned in another thread I'm off to Pakistan after a long time... thinking of getting a top end CA (although open to other brands MIDs and Malik)..
What's the price in rupees these days?
-
The other thing to bear in mind is that there are so many fakes around. I'd love to get a CA and have always wanted one but unless you pay full retail it's hard to guarantee you are getting the real deal, some of the fakes are really well done.
Perhaps some of the more experienced guys have some pointers about spotting fakes?
-
CA are the most quality controlled brand in Pakistan and I'm yet to see a fake CA in stores.. Fakes are likely listed online only from shady 'facebook retailers'..The fixed retail prices for CAs are
CA 20K Morgan - 65,000 PKR
CA Dragon 7 star - 50,000 PKR
CA Players Edition 7 star - 40,000 PKR
and so on.
@Yorkershire get in touch and I will hook you up with the guy who runs the CA franchise in Lahore
-
Ohh yes Ca have an official store in Lahore so you can be assured that stuff will be authentic. You can get a bat made to order. Although I wouldn't hold my breath for them to be accurate with the weight that you want. Personally i would draw the line at 26k for a Ca which is what the Plus 15000 cost now. But you could find some bargains in Plus 12000 or plus 10000 if you look hard enough. Like a 2lb9oz Ca plus 10000 i got off one of the authorized CA and MB retailers in Karachi and Canada named Murtaza Majid who hand picks all the bats from the factories.

I’m not sure who weighs their bats, but whoever it is needs their scales and/or eyeballs tested. The 20K Morgs I recently sold had a sticker on the side saying it weighed 2.8. I thought it felt a bit heavier, so after I put an extra grip on I weighed it, and it was 2.14!
-
Maybe they weigh them before applying the stickers?
They must add a fair bit of weight!

That unfortunately is the case with everyone in Pakistan. Rule of thumb, if shopping for a bat in pakistan, bring your own scale. If shopping online, ask them to weigh it in grams and send a picture. Then convert yourself

There are a few theories. Some say they weigh without grip and stickers, some just cant understand imperial units and when they say 2.8lb they literally mean 2.8lb. inconsistent as these theories may seem, always best to double check the weight yourself. Like the 2lb9oz bat i posted above has a sticker that says 2.6lb
-
I wouldn't pay more than USD 400.
I would also look for older models.

I hope you know they put weight in lbs and not ounces. 2.8 lbs is roughly 2.12-13.

That is one theory. And the one that makes most sense. But i have seen Ca bats that say 2.10lb as well. Not sure what that means lol

The price will really depend on the place you go to or person you go to.
If you want the grains, then you'll be paying 300 GBP or more.
But you can get same style of Morgan with slight imperfection (let's say on edge, back etc) which have no impact on performance for cheaper.
