Post by: Buzz on March 19, 2020, 07:50:16 PM
Looking through my old photo bucket account and found these hawk thigh pads, top of my list of why did I sell those.

Regret selling this from last season, was such a great bat. Huge, light and pinged like mad just thought I would find better and never did all last year.

Also this one I sold to a lad at my club and it’s gone onto become a rocket despite being a tad heavier than I normally use.

I'll start with the 45mm edge SK made GN Aus Atomic. It was pre-production, the rest 'merely' have 40mm edges.

Lekka Big Hitter, that thing was just solid with a nice pickup too.

As is the CBF trait thought there was better out there or some new stickers caught my eye. This however is one that I really should have in my kit bag still.

Hmm.....can't think of any. :D :D :D

I have held on to all my good bats. In the early seasons of my club career, I bought two bats and one broke (cracked handle) within a few weeks . It took a couple of seasons to find some worthy bats. Learned my lesson and never sold anything after that. You never know when you might break a good bat.

Regret selling Raje sports custom bat. It was shortly after crown had sold their business and the machinery and main bat maker had gone to Raje.

Very traditional and great middle.. it was effectively a Crown bat without the  crown branding.

Sold on an m&h distinction that was great but found out a bit heavy. Wish I still had it.

Also wish I still had my chase 175 that I lent a teammate at nets and he proceeded to smash a huge chunk out of. Probably the best all round bat I've ever had, grains to die for and top performance. @t2ylo it was that bat I used to hit the 'that's how I roll' straight 6 at Broadway and Horton :)

MIDS Legend..2.9, 50mm edges, 10 straight and even grains front and back, pinged better than all bats under 2.12 I've had.

I had a Hunts county insignia which I got refurbed by Hunts with the new stickers (Black and white C on the front). my nephew was using a sports direct special for his bat along with some other kit that was terrible, I cobbled some kit together and gave him the Insignia, it was more of a traditional bat and weighed 2.6 I thought I needed heavier, I went to watch him play with it and he was just cannoning the ball everywhere, it was at the point when he sent one back over the bowlers head for six I instantly regretted giving that bat away.

You shouldn't regret something like that in my view.

The tongue was well and truly planted in the cheek when I typed that, it was more of a "why didn't it do that for me!"

I had a decent Reebok bat in the 2005 season i purchased off ebay that had a good middle. Guy at the club pestered me for it for weeks. I eventually gave in and sold it to him for only £20. He lost the bat few weeks later!

I actually like Darker colour on a bat after oiling. I have a GM noir that went really tanned after oil but in my head thats sign of good willow. True or false?.. not sure

This is another I really regret- 2.10 Finch shape, maxing out the gauges. This one was all my fault. I never liked how it felt to hit balls as it felt really hard/ solid but it really flew and I averaged high 40's with this one... I've averaged low single digits since :( I had another made which was pressed beautifully this time but it didn't feel anywhere near as nice :( What led to selling this one was the colour it went with an oil- I couldn't stand to look at it so again sold for not too much. It still seems to be alive as I noticed it on ebay recently. I am not oiling a bat again!!!

I remember buying this had it refurbed, but it lost quite a bit of weight but loved the shape. Afterwards I bought a B3 Finch Pro (exact same profile as the YouTube video) loved that bay just was a tad bit heavy gutted I moved it on, still tempted to get another one

Now I know why you sold me that lovely GM Noir for next to nothing!

I can verify that with the bats I've bought from @DorsetDan I've asked the question, "why did he sell that"?

I've not sold anything I've regretted, but I've definitely bought bats off here that have made me wonder what on earth was wrong with the seller!

Regret selling Raje sports custom bat. It was shortly after crown had sold their business and the machinery and main bat maker had gone to Raje.

Very traditional and great middle.. it was effectively a Crown bat without the  crown branding.

Didn't Crown only finish when the fella died? I'm sure he did make for Raje though.

Not sure that was my only dealings with Raje. I know Alf of ACE helped out there for a short while in the early days also.

It was the first time I thought that I would choose a cleft and get a custom bat and that Crown was nearby, ACE had stopped trading by then. Their old website was still up. I rang and got told by the owner he had sold the business and was directed to Raje.

The owner and the main batmaker two different people? The name Easton rings a bell.

Last I heard Raje have packed in their bat manufacturing as his kids didn't have an interest.
