Hi boys and Girls sat down in work today and chatting to our cricket Director and i thought i would take a few pictures and post them up here on the forum of a bat he was given by Marcus Trescothic. Our director used to Play at Somerset with Botham and Viv Richards and is a source of information and full of great stories some i could tell on the forum and others not for fear of being hung and shot or ending up in a jamaican lambe curry. The bat has had test match use and is always good to see the shape and grains etc that a real pro uses!! i shall try and post other stuff on gear we have from pros that has been donated and sent in.

Who is the director sozie?
-
Hang on Fella trying to post some more pics and its Julian Wyatt
-
Wow, you wouldn't think that a sponsered pro would use a bat so it got mashed up that much!
-
if they get a good un they use it till it is unfixable
-
Yeah but we had an international batsman in aswell today an England player and he was saying that he likes to hang on to a bat for as long as possible to get a good feel for it and only uses another bat exactly the same in the nets too. And this is one of trescos very old bats.
-
what an awesome thing to have! that looks like the range he used through the 2005 ashes.... would love to have a bat like that.
-
It pics up nice and is very light, we get a lot of pros and former and current international bats men in to the cricket centrehere, but we are not allowed to comment or say who comes in or out. It is a shame as you get to hear some great stories and stuff. Hope you guy like it as its nice to get to see some close up shots of a pros bat.
-
as catusfatus has probably asked is it for sale???????
-
Where do you work mate?
-
Hi Keysersolze. Say hello to Julian from me. He should remember me !! if not he will remember my brother and brother in law who both played for Somerset with him.
-
bloody hell with the amount of somerset folk on here it should be called custom cider bats
-
He used to coach the Somerset Junior sides when i was playing - he was genuinely a top bloke and a very good coach as well, well liked and probably a good bloke to have directing things! No suprise he has managed to get hold of a few rarities.......that bat looks very Banger-Esque with that thick bottom hand!
-
I will pass on your regards to jules and yeah he is a top bloke and cricket coach, and i just sit there every now and then and pepper him with questions and download some of his cricket knoledge into my brain as i think what he don't know about cricket ain't worth knowing, but thats just my opinion but it is great listening to stories about being on the beer with botham and viv richards lol!!!

Hi Keysersolze. Say hello to Julian from me. He should remember me !! if not he will remember my brother and brother in law who both played for Somerset with him.
Bullydogggg, what year did you play? And 2nd team...
-
Hi Bully,
I never made 2nd X1. I played for the Board X1 and U25's. Board X1 was late 90's i think, can check on cricket archive. My brother played with Julian for Somerset 2's and my brother in law, Matt Cleal, played for Somerset for 4-5 years in the late 80's early 90's. He signed the same year that Botham, Richards and Garner left. Matt also has some great stories about Beefy as he used to stay at his flat in Taunton. Matt also used to room with Steve Waugh !!
Who do you play for Bully ?
-
Not me, my boss (owner of D&M Sports) Richard Mansfield played 2nd team for Somerset in 2000 I do believe, just wondering if you played together?
-
Don't recoqnise the name Bully. Did he play club cricket in Somerset ?
-
Not entirely sure, he's been all over.

Cheers Bully 2.
I'll pass that on, i'm sure he'll be very grateful!
-
Oh and Bulldog, any decent websites to pick out old old pictures?
-
Pics of players ? don't know ?
But just spotted this on that cricket archive, did not know it was on there till now... Me playing for Somerset U16's some 22 years ago.....(No Swearing Please). Can't think of any of those who went onto play first class cricket but Jason Dodd who batted 3 went on to play for Southampton best part of 20 years.

Also, my Brother in laws debut in first class cricket against the WI's. Some decent wickets for him on debut !!

Picked up ne of trescothick's bats at a Somerset open day, the pick up was so good and I also noticed the big bottom hand
-
Bulldog...100 runs in 47.1 overs!!! Must have been an epic to watch :) bit of a drive up and down the valleys to Aber been on tour there a few times.
-
Aber, Aber, Aber - played there in first year of uni cricket - crap pitch, crap weather, long drive - cant think of any more positives for the time being!
-
Pier Pressure night club and the witherspoons next to the train station! Iv seen more people in my local pub than the nightclub at peak hours....
-
Same scenario can be applied for Wales in general - not a place im rushing back to!

Only just noticed that Ayrtek !! can't remember it as it was 23 years ago but also just noticed that we were 34-1 and I had 6 !! changed my style a bit since then...
I remember the pub on the pier also. Me and Jason Dodd had a few drinks in there (he looked 18 so bought the drinks)
Stuart Priscott went onto to have a season for Somerset and played for Bath during their glory years in the late 90's. I think he still plays for them.
Any other members on cricket archive ?
