Title: Low, mid and high
Post by: jonny77 on April 15, 2020, 05:36:03 PM
Just interested to see what everyone would class as low, mid and high middles in terms of sweet spot? Measured on the face from the toe to the peak of the spine.

For me:
Low up to 1400mm from toe
Mid 140-220mm
High 220mm+
I prefer a mid/high middle

I’d say you’ve got it pretty well spot on Dorsetdan. The only low middle bat I’ve got at the moment is my friends M&H original low which has a middle at 140mm, so that’s where that measurement has come from.

If it helps as a reference the middles on my xp80 and GN Warner are both around 230/240 and would definitely classify that as high

I'd go with that I think and was just talking aesthetically, so tried to put the spine peak as the marker.

Interesting though and just made me think what people's perceptions were when I saw @SOULMAN1012 G&Fs, as to him they were maybe on the higher side of middle, but to me they looked really high. Suppose it's all down to the individual to some extent.

I'm looking at some stock shapes, so this is something I've been considering.

Just taken some more measurements what I consider:
Low
M&H original low - 140mm
Mid
H4L warbird -180mm
B&S supreme - 180mm
High
Aldred supreme - 220mm
Garrard and Flack - 230mm
These are at the maximum swell position rather than where the sweet spot may be.

Thanks @Gurujames Interesting to see that and does show as Dan says its small changes.
