Decided to have a bit of silly fun exploring counterbalancing after reading Chads thread from 2013 (!).
Took a bat at about 2lb10oz and added a 8.5oz rock from the garden to the handle. Total mass was 3lb 3oz.
Picked up about 2lb7oz max (maybe less) and felt outstanding. Totally unrealistic but a good illustration of the counterbalance effect on pick up.
Might be buying some lead wrap after this!
Would attach a pic but I cant find the thread on how to do this.

Let's see this caveman bat with a rock on it then.
Use Postimage.org to upload and get a link for the forum. Or you can WhatsApp the image to me and I'll upload it.
Of course the balance feels better on the upswing but it's harder to swing back down quickly, which is of course the ultimate aim...

I like the look of the rock 😂 it would definitely raise some eyebrows walking out to the middle.

I think this could be the thing for next season. Take out a patent right away

and if the keeper chirps too much you can always whip it off and hurl it at him!

Great experiment!
I use rings cut out from grips or half-grip rolled up as a hand-stop and counter weight. I never used something that heavy and it'd be interesting how my 2-8 size 6-3 bat would fare with a heavy counter weight.
