I’ve heard very good reviews about the performance of SS bats. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a top of the range, from the UK?
I’ve seen Uzi Sports do some, but just checking if there is any other company out there they stock them?
Anyone used DKP?
-
I have used DKP in the past, always good service, seems like a genuine guy
-
Do you mean Ton bats (I assume) rather than Stuart Surridge bats?
Many of our sponsors can help you out, VKS, Aswani, Uzi, SIX sixes etc

No SS - Sareen Sports or TON I believe.
-
You could check out Hanif from Eclipse All sports. He has quite a collection.

In UK market SS is sold with TON label . So all vendors that have TON you can check those.
@VKS @Uzi Sports have good collection

No genuine retailers in the UK should be selling SS branded bats.
-
Get in touch with Eclipse all sports for the best/latest selection in the UK. Or crown cricketer in India.

That is correct , SS branded products are not allowed to be sold by genuine retailers in the UK, only TON
-
I'm amazed they go all the way and label them as SS Sunridge outside the UK. This is pure identity theft isn't it, with one letter change? Or is there some back story about British SS sellng the rights to the Indian company?

Just full bore IP theft.

And they don’t need to do that today. Sareen Sports is known the world over but no one outside of UK knows much about Stuart Surridge.

No doubt they don't need to do it today, but they're doing it anyway -the recent Sunridges stickers are an embarrassing tribute to Surridge. They don't stop at bats, either:

Personally don't think they are ripping off Surridge, he banding is different... but believe what your eyes and mind tell you to ;)
They have never had a Jumbo or similar bat and have had Ton stamping for years.
-
Yes but Sunridge/Surridge can't be coincidence can it? A lot of players think it's all one company. When I came back to cricket a couple of years back I definitely thought all these SS bats around were the same company as the old Jumbo/turbo etc.

and if you're really bored as it's lockdown here is a report on the trademark issue of 'SS' back in 1994

:D :D :D
I concede on that there evidence :)
It's amazing what CBFs will dig up!
-
Yeah I thought I'd seen a jumbo version as well from Sareen. It is a shame because their reputation is really strong nowadays without having to take the logo off another company.
-
Masuri also have a collaboration with Sareen Sports to make Masuri/TON branded bats. You can buy direct from Masuri or from a few retailers.

Perhaps the least convincing defence imaginable for Sareen Sports to contend that they first used the branding when test cricketers were using Surridge bats a decade before Sareen claim to have come up with the brand.
The problem as ever with intellectual property rights though is being able to enforce them. Within the EU, the right to use your own intellectual property without someone stealing it is fairly well protected. In other countries it can be very difficult though to get a local court to enforce your IP against a local company stealing it.
The only amusing side of this is that a new group of rip off merchants are now stealing Sareen's IP by making fakes of their bats.
-
Sareens branding aside they complied with the courts findings and agreed to stop supplying SS branded bats in the UK, it's dodgy bedroom sellers that aren't following the rules and importing SS branded bats from their contacts that are the issue.

They are still stealing Surridges intellectual property by continuing to use the SS branding on products sold outside of the EU. Unfortunately, in the absence of international agreements on IP protection, it is very difficult and expensive to stop someone from stealing your copyright and trademarks
