There’s plenty of stories flying about at the moment about who sells white label TK bats and who used to and when they changed etc.
I get why brands want to keep it under wraps (and also why the makers sometimes do too) but I also like to -where possible - know what I’m buying. Especially with something like a bat who’s provenance is pretty critical to its value (if not always it’s performance).
One think wondered is does anyone know if Keeley use a lathe that makes a hole in the bat/toe guard when binding their bats. Preferably a bat that you know is 100 made theirs or if anyone has visited and has an exceedingly good memory.
Thanks in advance.

I have seen several that do not have a hole in the toe through the toe guard, but don't know what is hiding underneath sometimes.
I've had one that didn't have a toe guard and also didn't have a hole in the toe either.

Unless keeley has 2 separate lathes and changes his mindon which one to use, no, they don't have a spike in the toe.

My BB didn't have one in

Either keeley have 2 lathes, or some 'reputable' brands that claim 'keeley made' are full of something beginning with S.

Why would having 2 lathes make a difference?

If one has a spindle that punctures the toe guard it makes a hole in the toe and the other doesn’t? Possible the second isn’t a lathe so much as just a jog for holding and spinning a bat while binding.
It’s perfectly plausible tbh, would just rather know if possible.

The only ones I know of for sure that have a lathe spindle which leaves a hole in the toe is Salix and Hunts County And Garrad & Flack. The two Keeleys Iv had didn’t have this hole in the toe

I can confirm my BB doesn't have the hole either

None of my 25 Keeley’s have any hole either..
