Title: Bob Willis Trophy
Post by: Jeff Navarro on August 01, 2020, 02:31:12 PM
Haseeb Hameed made a solid debut for Notts with a good 60 odd.

The pic on BBC sport looks like he is in an odd  pair of gloves. One Kronus, one Supernova Infrared. But good to see him back in the runs.

Half century in the second innings as well for Hameed. Hopefully he can sustain this.

Ollie Robinson had  8/65 match figures against Hampshire, wonder if he'll get a debut in the third Test

Not quite on the same level but Bairstow's ability to mix ranges irritates me! Saw him keep with supernova infrared pads and shockwave gloves last year in a test match and he's currently batting with a powerspot, powerbow inferno gloves (which look suspiciously like custom coloured prestige's) and legend pads while keeping with last year's shockwave keeping pads and oblivion stealth gloves.

FFS Jonny you're a sponsored international player!

When can Simon harmer play for England? His record for Essex is ridiculous

Derbyshire chased down 360 odd against Nottinghamshire. Top effort

Bairstow doesn’t like batting above 6-7 for England but happy to bat 3 for Yorkshire? Bairstow should just become a T20 mercenary. After 70 tests he’s reached his ceiling.

Can't believe this has happened in a CC match....

Kent duo Jordan Cox and Jack Leaning pummelled Sussex into submission. A staggering unbroken partnership of 423. Both batsmen registered double hundreds.

Which? The Kent one?  Maybe ask Sussex, 89-5.

Does that not maybe have quite a bit to do with the fact they've spent hours in the field being battered for two double tons? 😂

No, not really. You can't have it both ways. Sussex had only three people pass 50 across both innings.

They only fielded for 26 more overs than Kent did. What's that, about an extra two hours?

Hampshire being hit by injuries at Radlett. Liam Dawson out for the season with an Achilles rupture, and Ryan Stevenson stretchered off after getting injured in the warm up. Possibly only needing 8 wickets will give Middlesex a sniff, but Hampshire should really win.

I think it says more about how crap Sussex's attack is without Ollie Robinson

Unfortunate but will probably endear him to fans even more given the context.

A noble effort from our kids in what is essentially a 3rd XI. The more I look at it as a Surrey member, this competition is pointless except for giving the youngsters a workout

Not sure how you've been affected that much worse than anyone else?

I can't tell if you're on a windup or not...

Burns, Pope, S Curran, Foakes, T Curran, Roy all unavailable, Amla stuck in South Africa. Morkel in Australia. All those players would walk into our first XI if available.

So yeah, compared to other counties we're at a pretty big disadvantage...

Dont think many have overseas players available, so we can dis-count Morkel and Amla issue.

Even aside from the bought in from other counties depth of squad, really?

Yorkshire missing Root, Rashid, Willey, Ashwin, Ballance, Waite, Coad and Fisher?

Sussex without Van Zyl, Archer, Robinson, Jordan, Magoffin, Wiese etc?

The fact is, Essex are the only unaffected side, I don't think you can say any other county has been disproportionately affected, and obviously the bigger counties will take the worst of it.

Why are you including the likes of Ballance? Injury or something? When did Rashid last play a first class game?

If you want me to include injured Surrey players as well as overseas cancellations and blokes who barely play FC cricket, then we're also missing McKerr, Clark, Dernbach, Plunkett, Topley, Neser to name a few. So yeah, 14 odd players unavaiable for one reason or another

Its okay, you can flash the chequebook at it - whats Jamie O, your 13th quick? :)

Ballance is an odd one - he has been unavailable for selection due to a recurrent illness but there are literally no details - sounds worryingly like "those" problems might be back.

Ben Foakes with a ton in his first FC game in 11 odd months. Ah.

Ballance issues have recently be leaked or reported in the press and Yorkshire are helping him.

We wish him well to recover and manage his condition

Some catch that. Even if it rains a fair bit I’m not sure we’re going to need that 5th day!
