Title: Bat Refurb Weight Loss
Post by: Tom_jones9 on August 29, 2020, 07:13:01 AM
Morning all,

Recently got my 3 year old bat refurbed, very happy with the result and finishing.

However the bat has lost some weight due to sanding etc - what is a reasonable amount of weight to be expected to lose during a refurb/sanding ?

Thanks in advance.

It would take a hell of a lot of sanding to lose even 1oz.

Half an oz is usual, it also depends if the stickers and grip were changed. That can have an impact too.

Net weight of a bat with binding...add about 2-3 Oz for stickers grip and scuff.

.5-1oz for sanding..

So you could have a lighter grip... Any stickers on? Can be a reason.

Did one recently was 2lbs 9.5 Oz

After refurb was 2lbs 7.5oz but my grip and stickers were lighter.

Thanks for the response.

Have gone from 2'8.5 to 2'7 bang on. Stickers exactly the same, albeit a different grip. Balance and feel in the hands still feel grand which is the chief thing

May be oil it if you aren’t comfortable to make the weight right.
